What paint actually dries hard?  Seems like its hard to get a paint that dries and is durable.

Any pictures of the rustoleum regal red?

I paint in the middle of the summer and put it out side for three or four days in the sun.

Regal Red, June of 2018.  Rustoleum gray primer underneath.  I wouldn’t say it’s super hard, but it would be easy to touch up.

Any rattle can is not going to be as hard as a spray gun with hardener finish, but it's reasonably durable.

You could always pick it up in the can, get a Harbor Freight 'purple gun', add some hardener before you spray.

OR... look into a " 2K CLEAR COAT " after your rattle can.

This was done in RR about 5 yrs. ago. On the last color coat as it was still wet, a coat of Rustoleum Crystal Clear on top of it. Dries fast and hard.

Spraymax 2k on everything... particularly rustoleum. It dries super hard, as it is a "real" clear coat.

WHX??

On this 1055 the hood was gunned by @Achto with Van Sickle in IH red. He did the fender pan too but during assembly I realized I'm a bone head prepped and painted the wrong pan so the right one I just rattle canned in regal. I didn’t prep it or anything cause I figured sometime Dan would have a can of Van Sickle open. Left the underside in primer.... just wanted to keep rolling with the project.

The color match is dang near spot on ....regal might be a tad darker but not by much. Only real difference is the gloss and maybe abit of hardness. The belt guard was done in Van Sickle too. Rest of the tractor was rattled.

In order, hardest finish is #1

1 - epoxy

2 - urethane

3 - acrylic enamel with hardener

4 - synthetic/strait enamel with hardener

5 - either enamel without hardener

6 - spray can

Might have asked you this before @Achto but whatever happened to Imron  if I got that right. Used to be the bikers choice for scoots. Was supposed to be the hardest. Was that an epoxy? All I really remember is was hazardous to breath overspray.

That was an epoxy paint made by Dupont. The original stuff no longer meets VOC regulations so it was pulled from the market. There is a new version, I have never sprayed it though.

As I said it will kill you - not today, but it will eventually catch up to you. BTW - how many retired Auto Body painters do you know???? I got out of the business at 26 years old....
