That's "easy' for you to say! :)

You still haven't answered the question.

I was rearranging my garage for more floor space these last few days. While working out there today , I took a break and looked over the 1054. My curiosity got the best of me so I grabbed a battery out of one of my other tractors and put it in the 1054. Usually “ running when parked” can be a bad thing. The kill switch has some two prong key which I don’t have. I jumped an alligator clip from the hot side to the coil and added some fresh gas. After a little bit , it started running rough then cleared out. I even took it for a little drive but the kingpins badly need replaced so back to the garage. In the coming weeks I will give it a thorough going over.

It doesn't hit if I take the steering wheel off.

:woohoo:                                                  :text-coolphotos:

Glad you got them and they are better than expected.  The 1054 may actually be a 1054A based on the wider rims. If the serial number on your 1054 is in the high 049XXX to low 050XXX range it is probably the 1054A.  Same tractor except for the wider front and rear tires and wheels.

:confusion-confused:  Kainer Boats used a white steering wheel that was a twin to the :wh: , could it be?  Take a picture of it so some eagle eyed member can ID it for you.

Thanks Richard, the serial tag is gone on the 1054. How rare were the As?

Nice score Slim :handgestures-thumbupright:.

Never ceases to amaze me what with a bit of tickling  one can get these girls to run and even drive. I picked up two 953' a couple of years ago and hope to get one out of them someday

They do make for just an awesome plow mule you get her set up tuned proper.  Hosen @Pullstart and Tom @Shynon can attest to that. Kev set his daughter on Tom's one year and couldn't get her off! Next year Hosen showed up with a couple of 953/1054's. That didn't turn out so hot. Well actually it did turn out hot! Wiring short ended the fun real quick.

I saw the video of Kevin’s daughter motoring along like it was nothing. I was wondering what all the smoke was in the pic of the Kevin’s ride out in the field. I’ve noticed a lack of wheel weight holes so I’m going to inquire with some of the local tire companies on getting two filled.

That’s all about to change hopefully sooner than later!  We have a good selection of running long blocks and 6/8 speed transmissions.  And a blank slate for wiring!  :handgestures-thumbupright:  and fuses!  :happy-bouncyredfire:

Yes weights were specific to 953/1054 and rare as hens teeth. Tire loading is a good option and very easy to DIY. Lots of threads here on doing it.

The 1045-A was just a continuation of the 1964 1054 run. We have no production numbers and the decal on the hood sides was 1054 so it is hard to say how many were produced. The only difference I am aware of is the wider rims and tires. If the established Wheel Horse numbering system had been used on this model it would have been a 1055 but that number was used on the new square hood ten horse power tractor being introduced.

Garry @gwest_ca has compiled serial numbers for various models but we can't be sure that all numbers in a sequence were used exclusively for that model. if they were then there were 1,000 first generation 953s, 850 second generation 953s, 600 third generation 953s, 7,000 1054s and 1,000 1054-As      :confusion-shrug:       This is total speculation and we have no factory production figures to back it up.

Seems by the pics I've seen @19richie66 is a member of the "not short" club too. Perhaps he can lend advice.

Have to agree with you two on this. I guess that is why I never owned a round hood. Too small for me.

You should see me on an RJ 59! Beleive it or not , that little tractor actually did wheelies pulling a bottom plow. I could probably use the front axle as a footrest.

I didn't try it but I think I'd be pretty close.

On my big tractor build there is a 7" extension between the frame and transmission. Still, I can easily put my feet on the foot pegs.
