Ifixoldjunk 778 #1 Posted December 2, 2021 So I have next too no experience with wheel horse single stage blowers, but plenty of experience as a small engine mechanic. normally on my pre season checklist for snowblowers is to check the shear pins. I looked for a good 15-20 minutes and I couldn’t locate any form of shear pin on the wheel horse blower. Do they even have one? Or does something else shear on these blowers? A chain link or something?
ri702bill 8,294 #2 Posted December 2, 2021 To the best of my knowledge and experience, the belt drive will slip if the auger cannot spin with the drive engaged - yup, no shearpins on a single stage blower. There is no helical gear gearbox to protect from breakage...... Bill 4
peter lena 8,588 #3 Posted December 2, 2021 @Ifixoldjunk have the same set up with a short chute , detail lubricate that especially the auger chain drive with correct chain and cable lube, keep it wet , you are looking at chain adjustment on that left front side , bolt just in front of , the blower skid , chain should have about 1/2" of play at center of free spot. the belt drive spring tension frame just behind blower ,on frame to tractor , is usually neglected , grease all solid points so the frame tension can easily follow the spring , also lubricate spring mount points , helps auger spin up quicker . if that chute base has a side gear drive , also lubricate that and chute base to top of blower . you want lubrication on ever intended movement area , NOT FROZEN RUST . my unit works like butter , my experience , pete
