ri702bill 8,316 #3 Posted November 30, 2021 Buck - welcome. Pictures - post pictures, particulary of the transmission casting number for each - that helps narrow it down. There are many members here that are quite informed on these little "Nut Roasters" - no me. I collect the 1962 to 1964 Round Hoods. Achto types faster than I do! Best of luck with your project. Achto 27,565 #10 Posted November 30, 2021 (edited) First one is a Suburban 1960 or 61 not an RJ Edited November 30, 2021 by Achto
Achto 27,565 #11 Posted November 30, 2021 (edited) This tractor could be a 1960 Suburban 400 or 550. Could also be a 1961 Suburban 401. Clues White arrow = Height adjustment, not available on a RJ Yellow arrow = I see a body line on the hood, RJ's were completely smooth Red arrows = no battery box, rules out a 1961 Suburban 551. Also 3 piece transmission rules out '61 551. Orange arrow = The hood has been hacked but if you can see if it had lever throttle & choke or push pull throttle & choke this would help define '60 or '61 Edited November 30, 2021 by Achto
buck red 17 #12 Posted November 30, 2021 Ok very helpfully so the front has wheel horse stamped into the hood did wheel horse make a suburban

It appears like it's a 401 hood stand on a 551 frame. 551 is the only one with a 2 piece trans Difficult to see the whole hood stand from that angle. The foot pedal is 1961

The info is typically provided for information so one knows what was factory and what is not or what has been modified. We luv'm all no matter what the condition is Edited November 30, 2021 by wallfish 1

At first it looks like it's the mount for a 2 pc trans but now it looks like the side plates of the 3 pc. you are correct, 3 pc trans makes it a 401 1
