JPWH 6,040 #76 Posted January 1, 2022 @WHX?? Not my first and most likely not my last. This is easy compared to the 854 I did a few years ago. I have 3 more on the list after this one. 1

Almost more than a nice roundy. Just something about the tall seat and the drive ability, stock HY and a stout worker. 3

I’ve got to get mine ready for April 30 plow day.
JPWH 6,040 #82 Posted January 2, 2022 When I said three more after this one I didn't mean 953's. My custom 12, one lawn ranger, and one 854. @WHX?? You should get two out of two, why just one out of two? 3

Pullstart 62,905 #85 Posted January 2, 2022 There’s a few in my stable that need some wrenches and lovin’ too. Let’s hope that happens this year! 4
JPWH 6,040 #86 Posted January 5, 2022 I talked to RAM - PAC today and got some interesting information. The man said the hydraulic lift was probably built for a customer some 30 years ago because of the model number and not their typical installation. He said I could send it to them and they would check it out if I wanted. I finished sanding the gen belt guard and installed it. Hydraulic lift pump. 3

Lowell can fix you up with all the parts you'll need. https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product-category/hydraulics/page/3/ Your pump and cylinder should be the same as the HY-2.
JPWH 6,040 #88 Posted January 5, 2022 Dick, @953 nutI talked with Lowell as well. He said he makes his springs so he may be able to make one for me if I had enough of the broken one to go by, but he was not familiar with Ram Pac. The man I talked to with Ram Pac did not know if there should be a spring or not. I'm going to have to take it off the tractor and take it apart or send it to Lowell to pursue this any further.
19richie66 17,508 #89 Posted January 5, 2022 If Karen’s had come with a pump, I would send it to you but it was absent from the parts mix. 1

It works great! It's just the question if it's supposed to spring back to neutral. Ram Pac says they don't think so but I'm curious. I probably could but lots of missing stuff and lots of reversing PO damage. I figured by the time I was done I would have way more in two than worth. I'll use the best parts out of both and give what's left to 953 nut. One of the gas tanks already went to get a nice 953 Lowell has custody of running. I'm sure there will be a good transmission and other parts to help out something more savable. Both have good original pumps but one was already used on my plow mule to replace a HY2 pump that Lowell has now gone thru and got fixed. I will put that one back on the plow mule so I may have a correct one for someone down the road here. Figure that kind of business is better than having two 953s.

Yes ... both do....one is quite warbly but most likely can be saved with Cub box parts. Jay's work has got me jonesin to get the 701 & RE-67 done & out the shop and some 953s in! 2

I don't think this pump works that way. I'll have to get it all put back together to know for sure. That is an option though. I have the lift cable installed now so I'll hang something on it and check it out.
JPWH 6,040 #96 Posted January 5, 2022 I'm anxious to get this one finished like I want it and start using it. I received the u bolts for the grille today, now I'm waiting on one more part for the Ross steering box, it's supposed to be an upgrade bearing. We'll see. Should get it tomorrow. JPWH 6,040 #98 Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) 52 minutes ago, WHX?? said: What was your source on the box parts Hank? Flea bay. Hamiltonbobscubs for the bearings and iplumb for the gaskets. The gaskets are not an exact match but will work Now I know what the material is I will make my own in the future. I still have a set of bearings and a gasket. I did not need the bearings. I had ordered 2 gaskets. For the top bearing I used a wheel needle bearing. Edited January 5, 2022 by JPWH 1 1
JPWH 6,040 #99 Posted January 8, 2022 I finally got the bearing, also got an original key switch from A-Z.
