Also need to get a rear lift cable or some sort of linkage to the lift. I have ordered the cable. I will figure out the installation when I receive it. Edited December 17, 2021 by JPWH
953 nut 55,227 #53 Posted December 17, 2021 Not a hard job, one clevis connects to the rocker shaft and the other to your sleeve hitch. Near the rear of your transmission there is a 3/8-16 threaded hole on the top. A small (about 5/8" X 2" 3/16 thick) piece of steel clamps the jacket in place. 2
JPWH 6,033 #54 Posted December 19, 2021 After I mounted the tires on the rims I installed the seat and pulled it into the shop to work on installing the lights. I removed the grille to change the air filter assembly to make service of the air filter possible without removing the grille each time. The air filter could not be removed after I installed the grille screen. After I installed the headlights I was going to install the grille to see if I could remove the filter and noticed one of the bolts was shorter than the other. About 3/8" had broken off if one side. Now I have to remove the axle to repair the u bolt. I also have the strap for the lift cable on the transmission @953 nut

JPWH 6,033 #58 Posted December 20, 2021 The hydraulic pump is a Ram Pac. I guess that explains the extra length?
JPWH 6,033 #59 Posted December 26, 2021 While I have been at the hospital with my wife USPS has been dropping packages in my mail box. The parts above the cable is for other tractors. Needle bearings for front wheels. I also have new bearings, races and seals for the 953 not pictured. 6
oliver2-44 9,749 #60 Posted December 26, 2021 It’s good that old 953 could take your mind off things for at least a few minutes. Looking forward to seeing your wife driving it 4 1

JPWH 6,033 #64 Posted December 28, 2021 My wife slept most of the day so I would go to the shop for a little while then check on her. I modified an old messed up air filter backplate and used a thumb screw on a shallow filter. Making a u bolt did not turn out so good. I did start on the wiring and put the new rubber on the original rims. I like the look. The steering seems to be binding so I'm going to try to find that issue as well 10

JPWH 6,033 #66 Posted December 30, 2021 This is what happens every time I start a project. Tool scattered every where. I got all the tools put away, the Ross steering cleaned up and waiting for the new gasket. I removed most of the wiring and started installing new wire. I need to get new cable for the battery, starter and ground. The axle pin is worn pretty good so I cut a new pin. My HILTI 4 1/2" grinder developed a loose wire in the cord before I could remove the tab for the Pin.

JPWH 6,033 #68 Posted December 30, 2021 It's not going quite like I planned but I'm trying to keep going forward as dictated by receiving parts ordered. I'm getting more shop time than I anticipated because my wife doesn't tug on the electronic leash as much as I thought she would need to. She is really doing well. JPWH 6,033 #70 Posted December 31, 2021 (edited) I repaired my old HILTI grinder, messed up my workbench again, cleaned and repaired an old grease gun I bought at an estate sale a couple years ago, that is going to work good for the semi fluid grease. And I almost finished the wiring today. I need to get a new coil wire. And I think I have a bad voltage regulator so I did not try to remove the rust welded screw. All other wire is new. JPWH 6,033 #71 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) I decided to tackle the cut out in the frame today. While I was in metal repair mode I fixed the flywheel cover missing nut that the starter generator belt guard fastens to. I made up a new axle pin using the old tab and repaired the battery box. JPWH 6,033 #75 Posted January 1, 2022 Starting to feel like I sold you a lemon. @19richie66No need to feel that way Richie. I don't. I did not buy a restored tractor. I'm just doing what you would have done if you found it. I knew about the cut in the frame before I bought it and the battery box.
