My First Wheel Horse

Recommended Posts

Thebrokenspokepoco

Purchased my first wheel horse last Sunday. I’m super excited about it. As far as I can tell it’s all original and seems to be well maintained. It came with a lot of paperwork that included factory dealer brochures and all the manuals for the tractor and all attachments. I took the deck off and installed the blade this weekend. Also bolted on a set of wheel weights that came with it, but I don’t think there wheel horse but fit fine. Used it a little to push a hump of gravel out of the driveway, mainly just for fun to use the machine, which was a blast! It came with a lot of attachments, I didn’t get a picture of the deck or spreader but here’s the rest of what I got.

are those fender lights factory? I don’t see them in the manual anywhere, or in the accessories guide.

:text-welcomeconfetti:,  Nice package!  You’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish with 10 horsepower!

Handy Don

Don't know if they came from WH, but a great idea if operating your tractor anywhere near roadways.

I see you are in KY, im not sure if the market there is like it is here in MS, AL, LA but that tiller down here would run between $750-$1,000. I dont know what you payed for your package nor is it any of my business. AWSOME FIND, you will not be let down i'm sure!!!

10hp will run that tiller in NC dark red clay all day long. Dunno what the ground is like where you are...

You can run a 42 inch mower deck with no problems either. And that K241 won't guzzle fuel like a twin does.

You did good on the purchase!

Values vary based on location of course... Up here that package of machinery is worth $1500 to $2000 EASY.

An excellent machine in my favorite vintage.

As stated you'll be more and more impressed each time you use it.

I agree about the pics too.  Excellent work.

One question though:

These two phrases could indicate that you're aware of the legendary rumored addiction that supposedly surrounds the magnificent :wh: Wheelhorse. (Ignore those rumors. They're ridiculous. We ONLY have 5 with a few in progress)

So have you started building a bigger barn yet?

I have a 5hp briggs transplant on my '73 no name model 8.  I use it for everything,  moving car trailers around, snowplowing and sometimes cutting my grass with a 36 inch deck. Bestest toughest little tractor I ever have owned. I have 27 other wheel horses but this one is in my top 5 favorites.

Thanks for the welcome.

I’m really looking forward to using the plow and tiller in the garden. I need to get a hitch for it as it is missing, and replace the lift cable as it is broken. I don’t know what hitch to go with. The slot hitch or the Brinly hitch. I get that slot hitch requires an adapter for the plow but it seems like some accessories, especially older wheel horse attachments use the slot hitch. Any thoughts?
