the things you find!

Currently working on my C141D. Taking loose one thing resulted in taking off the next thing. and before you know, you are halfway in to a full blown restauration.

Here are some things I found apart from bad wheelbearings, leaking seals, etc as I dug deeper in this chassis. Good thing I went over it. Could have lost my clutch and brakes!!:auto-swerve:

Been there myself…just want to “fix” one thing and before I know it it’s half way disassembled on my garage.
But you end up with a better machine in the end as you are finding out.

Thanks, current temperatures are to cold for painting, so A full restauration will have to wait for spring.

But technically she will be a lot better!:handgestures-thumbupright:

Some times tearing them apart and putting them back together is the best way to go.

Hey, I’ve been doing that trick on Christmas morning for 30 years or more.  Nothing wrong with that!  Just don’t plug your DC remote control cars in the wall socket for too long!  They get warm!

Welcome to the condition!

Only thing I can say to make you feel better is that by fixing the little things, you give this machine another 40 years. Imagine these little things adding up on any other machine: would it still be working?

Most restorations start like your repair. At some point, you have to face the "well, it's torn down this far already. Do I go ahead and permanently fix it?"

Wish I'd found them when I was younger--they are lifesavers, aren't they? I keep them in my "PPE" bag that travels with my tools.

Found another concerning thing. Should there be a C-clip on the axle pivot point?

Looks like it was once torn apart, and the fastly put back together...

Yes there was one but as long as the tab on the rear of the pin is ok and bolted in the snap ring isn't needed
