71_Bronco 1,072 #1 Posted November 22, 2021 (edited) Local "Dump" (Town Redemption Center) has a place where you can leave stuff thats still good, for other people to take, for free. They had it closed for over a year during covid, but recently opened it back up. Picked up some saws there a few weeks ago (posted in the tool section). Tonight, I hit the jackpot. Saw a plastic crate off to the side, and peeked in. Inside, I saw a pair of black plastic wheel weights, and a pile of chains. Didnt even bother to look at them, just picked it up and put it in my truck. Got home, and got them out. The weights are beautiful, no cracks or hole or any damage, just the slightly ugly center stickers. Chains are a pair, standard links, no ice "V" chains. Not too bad for the low low price of free Edited November 22, 2021 by 71_Bronco 6

rjg854 11,353 #3 Posted November 22, 2021 2 link chains to boot, any idea yet what size tire they'll fit?
midpack 862 #4 Posted November 22, 2021 Those look like Craftsman for smaller wheels. The bolt pattern fits nicely on 8" fronts 😉

Not like my 50 lb wheel horse weights. I'll take a few measurements in a bit. Edit: They say sears and roebuck on them. Forgot to mention that. JoeM 7,871 #6 Posted November 22, 2021 In the county where I live we have a similar program. We don't take the items to a location, just the curb. If there is no "for sale" sign on the item, it is deemed free gratis. Everything from lawn furniture to BBQ grills and so on. Kids toys, wood, old appliances, just like the tv commercial "make junk disappear". I drug a set temporary steps, that I used when working on the house, down to the curb. Before I got 10 feet away a gal stopped and said, you giving those away? Yep! I'll taken them. okay offered to help her load them into the her minivan., but she said she got it. And those steps are going to be just right for their camper in the backyard. Drove off with the side door open! I suppose some just pick up stuff to flea market but hey they are working for it.

I've also made some good scores just cruising around.

Put $50 on it and it disappears! 1

Well… do you tape the $50 to it so it’s visible or put it in an envelope marked free…? 1
71_Bronco 1,072 #13 Posted November 23, 2021 You guys are too funny. We don't have a "day" for that, seems like no matter what time of year it is, people always leave stuff out, and it typically disappears pretty quick around here. @midpack, I think you nailed it on the head about the 8" wheels. The biggest diameter is 11-1/2", and the holes are 4-1/2" apart on center. Little small for 12" wheels lol. I've been meaning to get a small set for my Commando 8, these just might be what I need. Id rather a set of matching cast iron ones, to go with the WH rears, but I can't complain for the price I paid lol.

There are big signs that say not to pull anything out. The section I'm referring to is separate. At the end of the night, anything left gets tossed for a clean slate in the morning.

It sat there for days until he replaced it with a “For Sale: $5” sign. It sold immediately thereafter. Edit: I’m assuming your item sold as opposed to flying away. Can’t make this stuff up
