Physical sizes of the engine are a little different... shouldn't require too many modifications. Bolt holes will be the same. Are you running a PTO... mowing deck on rebel...?

@jtrosp1980 is looking at doing something very similar.

Still thinking...

I think that you should be okay to go ahead with this... shouldn't have too many issues.

What are your main concerns TJ...? :confusion-confused:

Too much power... well, that's not really something that enters the equation. Your trans can handle that kind of power, certainly.

If I remember correctly, on the 341 the points are set at .019-.020....valves are set at .010 intake and .020 exhaust...

The 341 does have balance gears... (not a bad thing... but good to know...)

@Achto... you got a couple of seconds to look over this? :confusion-confused:

Yeah buddy, in that case, I think you will be very pleased with the Kohler, as opposed to the 10 horse Techy.

One good thing about the 341 is that you can buy parts from Jacks Small Engines, and places like that.

I guarantee you though, the hardest part is... if you have to take the pulley off the techy engine...

Better befriend the hulk to get that off... :laughing-rolling:

What exactly are your plans for the engine pulley? :confusion-confused:

Does the 341 that we are referring to have a pulley on it now, and if so, what size?

For the belt guard, you can just use some heavy gauge wire, such as 4 gauge steel wire...

You may just be able to use the pulley that is on it, and not have to mess with any pulley stuff. I guarantee you... they are hard to get off...

When I say wire, I am referring to something like this that you can physically bend to make a belt guard...

Thick Stainless Steel Wire (1/8")

Maybe a little thicker than that, but you get my drift...

I think the key is to find out what size pulley is on the 341 engine... and see what you have... then see what everything looks like.

One thing I can say... once you get the 341 engine on the tractor, you can overcome just about anything. The one thing to note though... maybe obvious, but it is good as a reminder... if the pulley on the 341 engine is bigger than what is on the tecumseh engine, the tractor will be a little faster. If the pulley on the 341 engine is smaller than the one that is on the tecumseh engine... the tractor will be slower.

Regardless, if there is any difference in size from the tecumseh pulley to the kohler pulley, you will need a different size belt.

Sorry buddy, I had it backwards, sorry, it is getting late... my mind is getting tired. With a bigger pulley on the engine, the tractor will be faster, with a smaller pulley it will be slower

A smaller pulley... more torque, but the tractor will be slower.

Since you are gaining power anyway with the 341 swap... the pulley being a little bigger would be a good thing, as you would gain speed and still have more torque than you had before.

A smaller pulley will put out more torque. Bigger pulley will put out less torque, but more speed in the tractor.

I would imagine, on the tecumseh engine, you have a 2.5 inch pulley... (I could be wrong, but it is my best guess).

The pulley on the 341 will probable be bigger... which is a good thing if you want a little more speed in the tractor.

With the pulley sizes, I think my mind was thinking about transmission pulley sizes...

Speed v. torque and effects of pulley sizes is reversed when you go from engine to transmission...

so more speed and more torque is what this engine will have
