Martin151 2 #1 Posted November 21, 2021 Good evening, my name is Martin, I am calling from Germany. American engines are American engines, I ride Harley Davidson, I have five of them three from the 1970's, our tractor is a New Holland and I restore small engines for fun. So far I have only restored German two stroke engines between 33 cc and 200 cc, from 1937 to 1977 and in my collection. All of them are now in good working order again, although most of them were in bad condition at the beginning. Now I want to dare for the first time to American four-stroke engines and have a Clinton B1290, 1177, serial number 8571348 B and a Kohler engine procured. I started with the restoration of the Clinton, unfortunately I had to realize that these engines are very, very rare in Europe and you get no spare parts. The ignition of the clinton I have already brought back to work, unfortunately all the seals of the carburetor, a clinton 183, are totally rotten. I need so currently eerst once a complete set of seals and later, when the carburetor is tight again, and he first runs, other parts. I hope someone in this forum can give me a supply address in US, or tell me another forum where I can ask. I would appreciate a reply and apologize for my poor English. best regards, Martin

Handy Don 12,235 #3 Posted November 21, 2021 Martin, welcome to the Forum. We are focussed on preserving Wheel Horse tractors and their engines and attachments and some early WH models did use Clinton engines! I'm sure some of the members will have some information and can point you in a good direction. This page has a few of the documents in the Forum archive that refer to Clinton engines. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=Clinton&quick=1&type=downloads_file Don't fret about English, our language is tough sometimes! I wish I were as fluent in another language are you are in English.
Achto 27,601 #4 Posted November 22, 2021 Clinton has been out of production for many years. Parts are not real easy find in the US either. A google search would most likely be you best chance at finding parts.

I am sure that the carburetor is a Walbro 183 for which rebuild kits are deadly available online in places such as eBay. Let me check one of mine to confirm that in fact that is the carburetor. can you also post a photo of yours? Edited November 22, 2021 by formariz
