echris 1,425 #1 Posted November 18, 2021 (edited) Haha, dumb question. I posted earlier about my brothers '66 Chevelle. He also has a '67 that is a full on 1/4 mile track car. In the early 2000's he had it dialed in at about low mid 10 seconds. Then she sat for years while kids were produced. Fast forward a bunch of years, and his son, who I may have mentioned here, is a genius with anything mechanical. The kid bought a late model Camaro, already worked fairly nicely, and made it into a completely street-able 11's track car. Never trailered. No, no, no! He made Pops get the '67 back on the track. Oh, yeah!!! This video is the first time Daddy and Son went side-by-side at Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY. Sadly, I wasn't there, but this video give me chills. Such an amazing thing to see! Crazy thing, my nephews car has a 6 speed manual, no driver assists whatsoever and this freaking kid hit's his dial-in every time. It's kinda scary! There was one trip where he had 3 runs, 11.4, 11.6, 11.4. Edited November 18, 2021 by echris 4

Pullstart 62,906 #3 Posted November 18, 2021 So cool! The fastest thing I ever took to the track was my ‘01 CCSB Power Stroke. Yeah @Snoopy11 I said Ferd. Launching in 4x4 on Load E tires it ran a low 16 in 1/4 mile. Not bad for 7450 lbs! Slowest pass? 45 mph in the low-mid 20’s with my ‘81 Olds Delta 88 Diesel. I loved that car!
Jeff-C175 7,202 #4 Posted November 18, 2021 The 67 was my fave Chevelle year. And Nova, and Vette. Something about the 67 M.Y. that trips my trigger. Soooo, my screen is a little short of drool. If ya get a hankerin' to post some closer pics of the Chevelle, feel free!

That's prolly why it lasted. I've heard if you baby a diesel it will blow up. Had the same thing with Renault 4cyl diesel motor homes. They would scatter a piston and take out the starter and transmission bellhousing with it. Of course how much can you beat out of a 75 horse Turbo engine!

I remember a comedian talking about the Chevette diesel back in the day, he said it was so slow the advertisement should read: "If you've got the time, we've got the car."

We had a 7.3 as well... it ran like a tank... until a drunk didn't stop at a stop light... It still ran... it just needed more parts than we wanted to put into it... So... we sold it... The guy who bought it put multiple thousands into repairs. It is still on the road today. Don Edited November 18, 2021 by Snoopy11

Don Mine… let’s say I had one two many at a local bar and offered it to a distant buddy for pennies on the dollar. I woke up thinking “what have I done?” But he was already on the way and I stood with my word. He runs a division of BDS Off-Road and it got the works of a prototype suspension system, 37” tires, and like yours is still on the road.

It had a custom paint job... etc... alligator seat covers... front cow grill guard... little lift kit... chrome rims... all that stuff. I can live without still having that truck... but I'll KILL for this:
Snoopy11 5,714 #15 Posted November 18, 2021 And, no... I don't drag race it. I am not that arrogant... so I don't need to 'prove' that I am the fastest... I leave that to other guys! Don

Snoopy11 5,714 #19 Posted November 18, 2021 People think that you can't spin the tires with a diesel... Think again... I wish I had pictures of the truck... my old Windows 8 machine crashed... and all my old pictures were on it... even the ones with me and Richard Petty... clueless 3,003 #20 Posted November 18, 2021 Back in 73 and 74 I use to race my 69 Z/28 at the track. With the headers uncapped it would sometimes get out of shape and hard to steer when I got rubber in all four gears.. 2

When my brother built this car, he owned a small body shop with an RM lacquer tint mixing system. We'd spend hours inventing colors. The paint job on this car was one of those times. We'd never know what color we were looking for and sometimes the results were surprising. Like this car. We weren't going for "metallic pink" but it looks damn good with that weird maroon!
