Parked my truck next to the barn while I was on vacation in Florida for a couple weeks. Came back to a large drift going clear up to the eaves of the barn (about 12 feet). Someplace in that drift was my truck! I shoveled back far enough to find the front bumper as a reference point and then used a tractor with front end loader to open a path at the front and side. There was so much snow on top of the truck that had to be shoveled off that it took an entire weekend before I could attempt to drive it out. The bed of the truck was six foot high with snow which was quite a load on the tiers and suspension, shoveled that out and decided I'd take the time to clear a space in the barn next time! 3

WheelHorse520H 708 #333 Posted January 18, 2022 @pfrederi that is exactly how it seems to go here. That’s why the plow’s on as long as it is.
rjg854 11,378 #334 Posted January 18, 2022 From Sunday until now, probably wound up with about 8 in of snow, got everything cleaned up. Tractors back in the corral. And now the sun is shining. 8

Our growing season here in Maine when we have a very very low chance of getting Frost overnight is basically from June 1st until September 1st. I can't remember ever getting a plowable snow May or September. We do occasionally get a plowable snow in either April or October. November and December could go either way but lately there hasn't been much. Up in the White mountains of Maine it's quite common for them to get winter weather starting about September 1st and not ending until the following mid-May. 9 months of possibilities there. Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Literally all year. They even get snow on the peak in midsummer. Not every year though. Part of my intention with buying the C-160 Automatic this past fall is to keep the big plow on it year round. Snow or dirt work will be its dedicated task.

kpinnc 12,083 #340 Posted January 22, 2022 3rd snow in 7 days in central NC. There is a glitch in the Matrix, y'all! 3
Horse Newbie 7,074 #341 Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) It snowed in Monroe NC last Saturday, then last night(Friday). Last Saturday we got maybe 1 inch with some sleet and freezing rain. Last night we got about 3 inches on the deck rail, a little less in the yard . Bailey went out to potty, and I’m not sure how he liked it. It caked up in his feet fur and he was shaking ! Its common in the north if you live in town or in a development with an HOA. If there is a public/HOA sidewalk you are responsible for clearing the sidewalks to your property line. I was always told it's supposed to be a municipal cost saver, so the city doesn't have to pay someone to do it.
SylvanLakeWH 25,598 #344 Posted January 22, 2022 Its the norm in Michigan… Typically not a “ticket” though. A lot of cities will warn you. If you don’t do it they then have a contractor do it and bill you for it… if you don’t pay it becomes a lien on the property…

Many many (cities towns villages) make it a bylaw. Some places you can even share liability with the municipal office for slippery surfaces.

Don't care for 'em here either but there is one ancient one about 500' up the road in front of the neighbor's house. Somehow it never stays lit after they come and replace the bulb for more than a few days. Wonder why? 1
