RandyL 53 #1 Posted November 10, 2021 My C-120 is coming along well. No leaks now, hydraulics working, and looking at more minor problems that need corrected. The steering wheel has had a hard life. It is bent and twisted, even the center cap area is an oval shape instead of round. Anyone ever straighten one of these?
Handy Don 13,306 #2 Posted November 10, 2021 Definitely got in a fight with something...and lost. I wouldn't even know where to begin to fix that but am interested if someone else does!
Maxwell-8 4,366 #3 Posted November 10, 2021 Do they have a metal ring inside or just plastic? if not, a heatgun could be an option , but a tricky proces
ri702bill 8,931 #4 Posted November 10, 2021 To me, it is not worth fixing - I am not a fan of 2 spoke wheels - they do not "age" well ..... Look for a decent replacement. Bill 3

Bill Yea, It's in tough shape. I may put some kind of want add about one. I will stay with original style. Right now, just getting input, Thanks.
ri702bill 8,931 #7 Posted November 10, 2021 Randy: Had a less than pleasant experience last winter while plowing with the C81. There was a crack on one side of the hub - the plastic is overmolded onto the hex hub - the other side split and the wheel came right off in my son's hands. Whipped up a clamp-on 2 piece gizmo to mount a 70's style car aftermarket wheel - No more roll pin, No more removal Issues. Dial in the centering, tighten the clamp. Kind of like the 420 LSE style. RandyL 53 #8 Posted November 10, 2021 Nice job on that new wheel. I am going to pick up nearly an exact copy of that for a replacement on a 64 Plymouth Fury. Found a stack of Grant wheels at a surplus type store a short time ago. What about this roll pin situation? My wheel appears to have a large bolt in the center. Is there more to it than that? It is a 74 C-120. I would appreciate any advice.
rmaynard 15,892 #9 Posted November 10, 2021 If you can't straighten it, and decide to find another one, I was saving this for a project that doesn't look like I'll ever get to. Looks like new, and includes the center cap. $59 plus shipping. 2
ri702bill 8,931 #10 Posted November 10, 2021 Randy: Not sure on the 74 version. This C81 is a 1979 and used the dreaded coil pin. The upper part is an adapter to mount the wheel with 3 screws and bolts down onto the 1 piece clamp. A lot going on in a small space .....

That just looks too nice.
