Just installed new starter, new carb, replaced valve guides. lapped ad adjusted the valves.  Engine is running like a top but when load is applied I experience a power loss to the point the engine will stall.  Any ideas to solve problem???

Might be courteous to introduce yourself before plunging into questions. Add to that a read of the forum rules and scan some old posts to get a feel for the place.

Also, since there are hundreds of WH models, it'd be very useful if you share the year, model number, and serial number of your tractor and the engine model if it isn't original to the tractor.

And, by the way, welcome to the forum! :)

Hmm... well, that could be a variety of things...

What was going on before you did all the valve work... were you having the same problem? I'm just curious to know what the engine was like before you did the work. Sounds a little like maladjusted valves... but... I don't know that because...  as @Handy Don said... I have no idea what you have done, etc... etc...

Is the throttle trying to open when you put load on the engine? If not, maybe you have governor issues.

My question is what do you mean "load applied"? Are you engaging the PTO, or what?

:WRS:

When you add a load by engaging the PTO your seat switch must be activated by someone being in the seat or the ignition will be interrupted.

@  carlejoyce , agree with 953 nut , on possible seat switch issue , you are lucky in the way that a related function is causing a problem , could be a simple test wire check out , often use small alligator clip  wire jumpers to find and correct issues . think about it , you can make it fail  with a lever , pete

My 518-H runs and mows for about 15 minutes then stalls.  It'll rest for 10, then run for 15 and stall.  The oil level is right, air cleaner is clear and it has new spark plugs.  Sounds like overheating, but it isn't really very hot to the touch.  Onan twin.  I brought it to the CT Onan dealer and he couldn't fix it, but frankly, they work on generators all day and I don't think they wanted to bother.  Any ideas?
