Is the shifter fork damaged? You'll have to remove the other gears to get it back in.

Welcome to Red Square.  The first thing I want to ask...how did you fix it before??   What trans do you have or what horse??  Basically, you have to open it up and fix it...pictures and some back ground will help.  :confusion-confused:

I would disassemble the tranny and closely inspect the gears and the fork. I believe that some thing has to be worn or maybe bent. I once installed a 3rd gear that I thought was fine but... the tranny would constantly pop out of 3rd as soon as you put load on it. It was worn just enough to cause an issue.

Wondering if the fork is twisted on the pin so it isn't in the year groove square.

Was wondering the same thing Dino.  I just don't see how it can come out unless that detent bolt is broken or a fork broke off and even then??? It's been awhile since I been in one so might be a little rusty.
