Honda/ predator repower.

Recommended Posts

Bens vintage tractors

Figured I’d make a thread and show how to do a predator 212 / Honda gx200 repower.

I will be putting this engine on my super sentimental 854. I hate to see the 854 sit for another year. Once I have time probably next winter I want to do a rebuild on the original kohler and repaint the 854… till then I’d like to do some work with it…

I see a lot of these types of re-powers so a thread detailing the steps is a good idea. I’m a huge fan of the Honda motors after installing one in my 656 many years ago. For me it was a trial and error install but once the bugs were worked out it was sweet!

This thread should be in either the Restorations, Modifications & Customization category or the Engines category. It is both custom work and engine work. Either category works to be honest.

Let me know where you would prefer it to be Ben, and I’ll move it.

I use my predator powered b80 year round with no problems. My plow mule is also predator powered and again it runs fine.

I think "Engines" would be the right place.  When it is finished, we can put it into the "Reference Section / Engines".

I've done engine swaps across Kohler Tecumseh and Briggs.

Interesting stuff...

I guess engine category would work.

So, based on that, you’d say you are qualified to author a thread on this topic for this highly discriminating and demanding :wh: audience…?

:confusion-confused:

I’d concur.

Here is the deal...I'll move this to engines, but I don't think you want all the comments so far to be part of the thread.  I suggest that you get all of your ducks in a row with pictures and videos and then do the thread in one post and then let the peanut gallery join in.

If you agree, you can keep the same title and I can change this one a little so they don't conflict.  Let me know.

There are 2 ways to do this...1. is to get it all together and then do your thread...2.  is to do a little at a time and leave it open to comments as you go.

Both ways have their advantages and dis-advantages.  I have done it both ways.  If you are looking for ideas as you go, #2 is best.  If you know what you want to do, and just share your knowledge, #1 is best.  Both ways get comments and likes, but if what you want to show is concentrated in the front of your thread instead of through out 4 or 5 pages then...there ya go.  :notworthy:

Sounds good I’ll start a new thread when I’m done with the swap.
