Snoopy11 5,714 #51 Posted November 11, 2021 Thanks to lovely Fedex... my tires are not going to come until tomorrow... I wanted to put them on today... since it is raining and ugly outside... Oh well... Don
Snoopy11 5,714 #52 Posted November 12, 2021 So... I was looking at a diagram of my transaxle... and I noticed... my transaxle does not have a reservoir... like it is supposed to... the reservoir is missing... it just has a tube coming up and it is capped off... So... I had to order one... My tires are supposed to come tomorrow... I can only hope... Don

Yes, I think for right now, I am just going to keep in in the shop... even after I get my tires on, until I get the bottle. I might pull it out of the shop to let it air out... but I won't be driving it around quite yet.... Don
Snoopy11 5,714 #55 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) What a day... So, I wanted to mulch up some leaves before the rain today. I hit a stump with the zero turn... broke the deck. Knowing that I am going to have to weld, cut, and do a lot of modifications to the deck now to get the zero turn back in commission... I figured... well... might as well give the '95 LX176 a shot. My tires came today, so I put them on... and took it out for a run. It is awesome. It does not bog down, even in the thickest of leaves... it is pretty darn fast... faster than the zero turn believe it or not... I made the following for the transaxle reservoir until the one I ordered comes... pretty primitive, but it worked like a charm! Go ahead and laugh... I know you want to. AND YES, I stood there and drunk 2 rootbeers to make that...! You can see the bottle coming through in this picture... where I can fill the 'reservoir' LOL TIRES... pain in the )( to put on... And yes, guys, even though I said I wasn't going to... I did paint it green for resale value purposes... (a buddy convinced me of this...)... altough, after using this sweet old girl, I am really leaning towards not selling it! zero turn out of commission... 'till tomorrow... In the middle of mowing with the LX176... the deck belt broke (it has a right to... after all it is probably 20 years old itself...)... so believe it or not, the belt that I use for HellHorse actually fits the deck on the John Deere... so since I had a couple of extra belts laying around for HellHorse... I did not have to run to a tractor store... ! I got my lights put on... I think that covers everything. What a day. Snoopy11 5,714 #57 Posted November 14, 2021 So... here I am... looking for information about my trans on the LX167... which is the Tuff Torq K61... And just guess what comes up in the second Google website list? Everything is on Redsquare... Don
Snoopy11 5,714 #58 Posted November 14, 2021 I should add, the Tuff Torq K61 was used in Toro Wheel Horses... Whether it was a widespread thing... Don
Snoopy11 5,714 #59 Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) More specifically, the Toro Wheel Horse 266. And, as I have previously mentioned... the engine on my LX176 is a Kawasaki. I am going out on a limb here... but I think the only things on my Lx176 that are really "John Deere" are the body panels... Snoopy11 5,714 #60 Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) So... actually, the Tuff Torq K61 was used in Toro Wheel Horse 264-H... 265-H... and 266-H... Don Edited November 14, 2021 by Snoopy11
Snoopy11 5,714 #61 Posted November 14, 2021 I even dug up this manual for it... NOT from John Deere, but right from Redsquare... Don
Snoopy11 5,714 #62 Posted November 14, 2021 Looking over that site on Redsquare... the Tuff Torq K61 was used in quite a few Wheel Horses! The date ranges are between 1994-1999... so a 5 year span. My Lx176 is a 1995... so it does fit in those years, right along with the Wheel Horses... Sorry if I am boring anyone... I enjoy the history of these machines! Snoopy11 5,714 #65 Posted November 20, 2021 UPDATES! I had a clogged main jet, so had to re-clean the carb... (not sure where the gunk came from... as I cleaned the entire fuel sytem and put a new filter on... but... )... Got some additional lighting put on. Used the bumper that I made for HellHorse, and bolted it onto the front of the '95 deere... (the bumper will interchange with Hellhorse and the deere, at my discretion... ) Put a nice clear coat on it... All new tires... And, when taking this photography, I just had to include the Wheel Horse, of course... ...(the zero turn showed up there somehow... ) Got my new reservoir put in... Snoopy11 5,714 #66 Posted November 20, 2021 You know, I was thinking... what is interesting about taking pictures of all my equipment together is... HellHorse has more horsepower than both of the Deere's combined... Don

I had to move it more forward than I would have liked... because of the really tight steering... the wheels come VERY close to the frame... so I had to move the stack more towards the front of the tractor...
