Jim Turner 42 #1 Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) Curious how well the 32" snow thrower attachment works on the short frames with the 8HP K181's I Looked up some videos on youtube but only found one submitted by Mr. Lane Ranger I figure his is a 5HP. I do like this forum better than Facebook as there seem to be more people on here to get an opinion from. Edited November 3, 2021 by Jim Turner

I have no other social media than Redsquare and intend to keep it that way. I'm sure they'd be happy to explain what was "iffy" if you wanted. Our snowblower is a walk behind so I can't comment directly on the Horse 32". Like any other tool some occasions for use are better than others. Snow depth and density are important.
pfrederi 17,680 #3 Posted November 3, 2021 I ran a Snow blower on my L-107. Didn't work out well for me. I have a lot of driveway to clear. Up to 6 inch accumulation i plow. Faster and easier than blowing. Tried the ranger with a 7-8 snow fall the first pass is the problem. Even in first gear had to slip the clutch a lot to keep throwing and not choking/stalling.... Of course in subsequent passes you can take a smaller bite and not have to slip the clutch but it took too much time.... Love my Ranger and she did well plowing but not blowing...After all most walk behind blowers are 8+ hp and they do not have to drag me along... 2 1

That makes since, I am wanting to put mine on an 867. feel the lower ranges may help. I have read others comment that the plow works best in certain circumstances too. I could use my 877 with the plow and 867 with the snow blower. I have other tractors like a 1276 that would work better with a snow thrower. I just want to experiment and see what works best with each machine. You have a very nice collection of tractors. It is an old picrture. Over the last 20 years I have been refining my snow removal fleet and for my work a hydro is the answer for plowing or blowing. Fast reverse for plowing and ability to get the right feed rate for blowing make hydros the clear choice,. (The big tractor and back blade haven't been used for several years now nor has the walk behind). I have two charger/electro 12s set up for plowing. One is getting 54 inch blade this year (the other has rubber chains and plastic plow edge for a short stretch of pavers). For several years I had an Electro 12 for blowing but a couple years ago gave her a 16hp engine. The 12 worked OK with the 16 I can go a bit faster in heavy snow... (Winter seat time is not something I look forward to ) 1
ri702bill 8,294 #7 Posted November 3, 2021 Oh come on, Paul. Any seat time, as long as there is no breakage, is quality seat time. Just part of the four season versatility all these Horses have .... Bill 1

Neither one of us really minds the manual lift or shifting or anything like that but we have a lot of back forth back forth back forth back forth back forth.. and that tends to we're out the belt pretty quickly. Late last year I tried using a custom-built 60in wide snow plow and I liked it quite a lot but as you can imagine that's substantially heavier than even a stock 48. I've since added a very very heavy duty cutting edge to that wide plow. As of this past weekend I now have a 1975 C160 automatic in my herd of Horses. 60 inch plow width, hydro transmission and hydraulic lift. With any kind of luck that thing will turn out to be quite the snow pushing beast.

This little gem has already been restored by the previous owner. Needs a little cleaning up and some minor mechanical work but if I changed the color very much I'd have the midwestern Wheelhorse mafia like @WHX?? Jim all up in my dooryard rolling giant cheese 🧀 wheels trying to bust me down.

Nah, I don't think so!
wallfish 16,986 #12 Posted November 3, 2021 The 8 hp will work but more hp is better for a good experience and performance. Put the blower on the 1276 and a snow blade on the little 8 hp. IMO. Used to use a single stage on a 16 hp and tried once using a 10 hp tractor. Quickly changed it back to the 16. The 10 worked "OK" but it was definitely slower and didn't perform as well. I don't enjoy freezing my nuts off out there removing snow so that's a big factor for wanting better performance. Hence the 520-HC with a 2 stage and cab.
