AHS 1,440 #1 Posted November 2, 2021 Ok, drive pulley seal is leaking. I am in the midst of replacing it. The pulley came off easy. Now the seal… use a pick tool? Like the ones seen in the picture? I can’t seem to get it out, any ideas? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ebinmaine 67,671 #2 Posted November 2, 2021 I haven't had a lot of luck removing the metal seals with just a pick. I usually take a long thin quarter inch wide flat screwdriver and kind of crush the seal in and it will start to rotate. oldlineman 1,481 #3 Posted November 2, 2021 you will also have to remove the key, this has to be done to install new seal but will help with removing old one also. Metal seals? I will have to show you the one I have got from the dealer. I am unsure if it the right seal, cause this is the first time I have done it. peter lena 8,639 #7 Posted November 3, 2021 @SylvanLakeWH just drill or make a pin hole for that packing puller to get in , and you have instant mechanical advantage , makes tough removals much easier . those bearing distributors , have swing out wall boards , with all types of pulleys and seals on them . love the fact that you can duplicate your pulley with a larger bearing , wide side seals , guess what ? lucas grease replacement , very easy . get a matching bronze bearing insert , for 3/8 bolt mount , have that on my 3 horses , amazing quiet , solid ease , in a typical problem area , make sense ? being a retired millwright , my main thought was to make a problem go away , that's how I look at anything . just me , pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
