New to Me E-141

You should put a pedal charger on it too.  And a rowing machine.  And a flint stone brake system :ROTF:

Maybe put a mast and sail on it to save battery when the wind is blowing…

Inaugural pull with the E 141. Very pleased. Kids loved the quiet ride…

Well the test drive yesterday did in one of the batteries… :( But, not a surprise. It was the one I expected would be going first…

Now my dilemma is one, two or three new ones…? One is quite good, but three years old. One is still holding good charge but is 5 years old. Third one is toast.

I am inclined to go with three, get all at same time, brand, size etc. so I’m not always dinking around with them… Given age of remaining two, I think it’s really the only way to go. Thoughts?

Military Vehicles use 2 12v batteries to make 24 volts.  We always replaced in pairs as the charging system didn't seem to level the two if they were significantly different in condition.  If you are recharging then individually that would no be a problem.

3 new, sounds like railroad season is just starting, you don't want it to be derailed.

Needs some playing cards in the spokes, so it isn’t a silent killer for some old lady crossing the street!

Oh… my… ears… nose… just… stop… :scared-eek:

Remember, if I get a short on this thing it might spark, thus igniting any squonk love signals in the area… :happy-bouncyredfire:

Many people that have diesel trucks with dual batteries learned the hard way when replacing only one.  Likewise, RV owners with multiple batteries need to replace them in sets.  They will charge better, hold a charge longer and last longer if one isn't dragging the others down.

Ordered a train horn and three monitors for the batteries… will be here Thursday.

Battery night. Went with Costco Interstate marine. For what I will be using it for I think they will be more than adequate… we’ll see. Thinking of keeping the best of the existing batteries for exclusive use for lights, horn and other accessories…

I think that's an excellent idea.

Would you have reason to believe otherwise?

To my knowledge Interstate has been a reputable company.

I'd just as soon buy a battery from a high volume seller like Costco than a place where they set on the shelf.

@ebinmaine my comment was directed at the type of battery, not manufacturer. I have heard all good on these and Costco warranty and process is outstanding.

I was referring to the millions of different “deep cell” batteries, ranging from from $75 to $1,000’s… and ranging in size,  with most expensive ones not close to fitting available space. That’s what I meant when I said I opted for these - $85 each.

I am confident they will be great. :handgestures-thumbupright:
