rmaynard 15,518 #26 Posted November 1, 2021 (edited) Don't we have a guy on here that makes repro's? Toro is going to try to squeeze blood out of anyone wanting a muffler. They have gone up at least 500% since 2008. They haven't made new ones for years and the stock they have is old. Their cost did not go up, only their profit. He stopped making them due to material cost if I remember right. Stolen from @Gregor Another pic of the muffler in question:
Brockport Bill 1,668 #29 Posted November 1, 2021 that certainly "appears" like the exhaust i have -- Parts Tree lists it as # 106918 for the C125 in your photo --- as well as other models ( c85, c145, c160 ) etc - hard to tell from diagrams --
Brockport Bill 1,668 #30 Posted November 3, 2021 i happened to see a C160 today and took some photos that shows a muffler pretty much a match to the exhaust muffler i had as a mystery at start of the thread

I have a 1974 that I don't believe has ever been touched I also have a 1975 that has been restored and the muffler has certainly been replaced. The 1975 that has been restored has a muffler that is substantially larger and to be honest really doesn't fit in the space allotted without being too close to the fuel lines. This particular tractor was restored by a person who was a Wheel Horse Dealer and it's likely that it is a black hood style muffler which is larger around or, maybe that's all that was available at the time. I'll post a couple pictures in a few minutes here. Size and length and shape of twists and turns appears to be very very close in design but in my particular case it's the outside diameter of the can itself that's a lot larger. I'll need to do some studying on this one in the next few days because I'm really hoping I can use it. I'm wondering if I can move it at all to make a little extra space. I do like the nice deep quiet tone it has quite a lot.

First one shows the shape of the larger muffler that is what you have and I believe maybe a black hood style. Ignore the fact that it's upside down. Second pic shows the same muffler, cross section measurement. 4-1/4" Third pic shows what I am more accustomed to seeing on the mid-70s C160s as original. 3-1/2" across.

ebinmaine 67,672 #38 Posted November 3, 2021 C160 and C161 have open hood slots like this here beast. Also less room for a muffler. That's why I was surprised to find the larger muffler on the one I just got.
squonk 41,162 #39 Posted November 3, 2021 You can also see the shaker plate mount the C160 doesn't use.
71_Bronco 1,072 #40 Posted November 4, 2021 I think the guy who did the repro's was @jay bee if I recall correctly. I bought one for when I get around to my Bronco 14 build.

Brockport Bill 1,668 #42 Posted November 4, 2021 there have been some comments about a "smaller" exhaust - here's one i got this week - its a slight different neck and certainly smaller so this may the style some have referenced - dimensions are smaller at: 8" high x 3 1/2 " Diameter and 10 1/4 circumference
