Very nice score. I completely missed the ad earlier in the month. Just as well. I'm also short on time and storage space. However, after I saw your post I decided to go look at a 312-8 I've been driving past all week. The seller must be really old school. No CL, no FB, just the tractor on the side of the road chained to a trailer. 42" RD deck comes with the tractor and a 48" SD deck for extra $$. Unlike you guys I returned home empty handed. I'll drive by again tomorrow though.

The future of the 2 417As is yet undetermined. They'll be here for a bit at least.

The 2 C160s are mine. The '75 Auto will likely be the plow beast for this winter.

Jim and I both drove it around the yard a minute or 3 today after some maintenance was done to get it running.

I drained the old gas, changed the fuel line. Added a fuel filter. Cleaned the points. Changed the sparking plug.  Removed and cleaned the fuel bowl which was right full of muck.

Removed the air filter and left it off. Filthy!

Someone had bypassed the fuel pump. Fixed that.

The brake pedal was able to slide down beside the safety switch. Adjusted that.

I used the @wallfish method of blow in tank to prime fuel.

It started up and rumbled right to life.

Here's the gas. IMG_20211031_163728.jpg.56742e1239c88e7e0c0b89f2e9e9ea86.jpg

Yeah for now.

It was located across the front of the hood as normal. It was too close to the fuel hoses.

I REALLY like the tone of it.

Not too sure how to mount it yet.

Handy Don

I recognized the tail of that Cushman scooter. The head of plant maintenance at my summer factory job used one--real handy for getting to a problem site quickly or for zipping back to the shop for parts or tools. Woe be to anyone thinking they could use it, though. :)

Great bunch of tractors, you guys. Musta be a fun outing to fill up a truck with tractors.

No worries on the repaint on the C160 Automatic, yet.

She'll stay in the current state for now.

It has a decent paint job but the base prep was very poor.

Looks.....ok.... From a few feet back.

I'll do some more work to it and work it this winter.

I can tell already it's FAR better than the Charger hydro.

If I like the way the C160 Auto moves snow then it'll keep the 60+"  plow on it permanently.

In the first vid guys the sheet metal looks real nice and strait. Hood had a nice shine to it.

Absolutely does.

Whoever did the actual painting part of it performed nicely.

I do believe that real Wheel Horse red paint in Wheel Horse spray cans is what was used on this particular tractor and where the sheet metal is smooth it did come out nice.

Issue there is that as many of us know painting is actually about 90% prep work and there was very very little done before the paint was applied.

When I was a kid selling du pont paint we used to call that a 20/20 paint job.

From twenty feet away at 20 miles an hour it looks absolutely fantastic.

And that's perfectly fine with me. In fact preferred for the most part. This will certainly be a working rig as every other one is here.

JCM

I figured it's about time to congratulate @ebinmaine on this past weekend score here so all his buddies can see what he's really like when content. You may see a difference in the before and after pictures. In the first picture he's like a kid on  the 25th of December and on the second one he seems very happy looking for berries. I mean how many C-160's should a BEAR legally own ?  Only he knows the answer to that question.      Great job on that score Bear, and thanks for taking me along, much appreciated.

I think those 417s will grow on you Eric... Actually a whole lot a tractor in all of those horses.

Agreed.

I've heard @JCM Jim's KT 417-8 and it runs lovely.

Trina and I are planning to get the 417As cleaned up a tad and then Jim and I are going to see about getting one or both running.

Personally, I'm curious to drive both the C160 Auto and 417A to see & feel the differences between the two.

@ebinmaine are those 417s, series 1 or 2? I guess the Series 1 isn’t bad, as long as you don’t take em on a side hill.

I believe these would be series 2. Neither one has an oil filter though.

The serious torque test would be snowblower; I’d like to try that on a 417!! Got the snowblower all finished on my 414-8 today!

I’m not surprised @AHS, the 300, 400, and 500 series machines are beastly. Especially the 400s and 500s.

Good find there @ebinmaine and @JCM, I’m kinda jealous.

You stop up anytime you want and I'll let you drive around whatever is available..

I'm really looking forward to getting some seat time on that c-160 automatic so I can get used to the controls and see how the old rig goes after it's been warmed up some.

Maybe the next time I’m up that way. Great find for both of you. I have to agree with @oliver2-44 there must have been armed robbery or something.
