I have two little pin holes in my 42 deck. Would y’all even be concerned about those?
Im pretty meticulous with cleaning and oiling my decks so further rot isn’t likely. Would y’all say it’s time to weld in some replacement steel? Or just run it as is.

Structurally it’s still one of the most sound unrestored decks I’ve come across.E4CC12EF-7E42-4CEB-B972-606D0A787D46.jpeg.e33a5444f31c1519ac7023357fb004d8.jpeg

I had a small hole come in mine near the grass chute. I put a small bolt in it and tightened it down and painted it. Looks like it belongs.

Two high impact areas and if your not needed it right now fix them! Drill small holes left and right of the rot to see how far you need to go with a patch. I would put the patches on the outside tring to keep the inside as smooth as possible. 16ga is good, 11ga is better but harder to work on the curved area.

@Ifixoldjunk  , think a small welded patch would be better, btw , your  oil soak bottom shot is something i have been doing for years , do it during cutting season , and after cleaning leave it upside down over winter , to soak in . also use a small fine file on blade touch up , gets a quicker edge , without much metal removal . also detail lube every movement area / point , and similar detailing on my mule drives. as well as pto linkage hook up . engagement is smooth and easy . pete
