Jennifer 1,877 #16 Posted October 24, 2021 Started the day off at Walmart!!! Lol. A quick stretch before hitting the road leaving Ohio…. Was going to stop in south bend and do some sightseeing then maybe to D Woodman’s possibly but it’s done nothing but rained today!
Jennifer 1,877 #17 Posted October 24, 2021 Was told this was for and came off 854…. Under the crud I found model number…. (wheel horse tiller 71211 7). Concern at this point is if my husband is going to flip out …. Lol. Anyone know if in fact it will work on his 854???
Racinbob 11,081 #18 Posted October 24, 2021 That midpoint idler is for a newer tiller. The 7-1211 originally used a 2 belt setup. There was an idler setup mounted at the very back of the frame. A belt went directly from the pto to this idler then a second belt went to the tiller. Unlike the newer style you leave the slot hitch on the tractor and it was used to lift the tiller. However you can do some fiddling and use one belt setup. I had the same tiller and I used the newer drive setup. Since you got the newer mid idler it could be what the previous owner did. It will mount on an 854 but it would take some engineering to incorporate that style pto. Then you have the issue of no low range which you need tilling. 1

Racinbob 11,081 #21 Posted October 24, 2021 That's comes with the SR-64 speed reducer kit. I've never seen one but they must be out there. That would solve your speed issue. There's still the pto problem. I'm thinking maybe an electric clutch and running the belt like a later model.

Jennifer 1,877 #24 Posted October 25, 2021 (edited) Well this was the final miles of the trip! Husband is a bit disappointed in the tiller! Was hoping to use it. For starters he has to fight the hitch pin to remove the stationary hitch so it can be bolted to the slot hitch.. Then has to figure out where the third piece goes! @Pullstart he looked up on YouTube and that video came up! We maybe asking your help! He gave $300 for it and then the drive! So really needing to make it work! Looks like it will need a seal! Plus there is damage to pulley but he thinks it will be ok! Also got a couple metal art signs at the gas station along the turn pike! Edited October 25, 2021 by Jennifer 2
