Who's had frost this year?

Recommended Posts

ebinmaine

The BBT and I were up in the mountains of Western Maine this past weekend visiting friends. The climate where they are is a little colder than ours. They normally get Frost sometime in the last week of August or 1st couple weeks of september.

As of October 19th they had not seen any and we were gabbing about how extremely late that is...

So who's getting the frost?

There was a little frost on the tractor seats at Jim's plow day last Saturday morning when we got up.

Not even close a bit south of Plattsburgh.  43F is the lowest I've seen so far.

Nothing yet here in central RI - I'm about 6 miles from the closest part of Narragansett Bay - the northwestern corner of the state is the furthest away from the water and has a higher elevation - they see frost first. Fun fact - Jerimoth Hill WAS the highest point in RI (834 feet) until about 5 years ago. Now the landfill in Johnston, aka Mount Trashmore, has surpassed that .

No frost here. It's still in the 50's at night. The leaves haven't even turned yet. By this time most years, we are well into leaf pickup.

No frost here yet.

I planted some grass seed the end of September.  Almost looking like a lawn now.

The oak leaves are still green.

The lowest I've seen here was 42 a couple days ago. That's low enough for me....I'm ready for spring...

Had frost two days last week in east central Missouri. It was 39 degF one morning and 42 the other. It always shows up on our back yard neighbor’s roof first.

Yup.  My sister is in Wyoming.  She reported snow in September.  Didn't last long, though.

We had just a touch on the peak of a few homes on the highest parts of town two weeks ago. That don't count in my opinion, my garden is still producing summer squash. That is nice because of all the rain this year the garden wasn't that great. We did get some hail over this past weekend when the cold front blew through, high winds took the foliage with it.

None here in the Lehigh Valley, PA thank goodness. Still lots of stuff in the garden that doesn’t respond well to frost. Tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, and so on. Pretty odd though for this late in October.
