  1. Check if it turns over by hand, and see if it has compression and OIL!
  2. start to see if you have spark, probably need to sand the points.
  3. spray some gasoline in the carb and see if it fires.
  4. If yes clean the carb and do some maintance

Starting fluid is OK for big engines, but it is capable of damaging small engines.  You are better off using carb cleaner or gas as a starting fluid.

It tried the starter seems a little slow maybe the battery im gonna try to jump it off the 2nd gen tommorow. When I turn it by hand the compression is exelent should I put oil in the spark plug hole I won't forget to close the valves

@TJ salyers  would hook it up to a separate gallon jug of gas  and seafoam , Stabil gas treatment , start it up slowly , don't  run it hard after its long sleep. having done this , run it till hot and responding with no trouble , would also do a hot oil change at that point , a fresh lubrication start , is what i have done , pete

Buddy, you want my advice from an engine guy... buy some molly lube, take it apart, check everything for wear, rebuild.

Not saying you couldn't get lucky and have the engine run right off the bat, and maybe for another 20 years, but I always like to be sure... just in case that thing is a ticking time-bomb... literally and figuratively. Just keep in mind, if you don't take it apart and rebuild, you are taking a chance on the crankshaft journal. The cam lobes and followers will get lubricated by the below process... but the crankshaft journal may not receive lubrication on startup...

I think, this is what I would fear the most here... lack of oil on startup. If you don't want to take it apart, what I would do is put oil in the engine and rotate it every-which-way... flipping the engine over, shaking it to get the oil everywhere. You can put oil in the spark plug hole, and rotate the engine over... this will help get the rings and piston wall lubed-up ( @Jeff-C175 knows what I mean there... :teasing-poke:)...

Me being me... I would also take the pushrods out and put a couple of drops of oil down in the holes to get the followers lubricated...

Again, all of this is worthy of mention... whether you do any of this is completely up to you. Again, you could start it up, run it without issue. BUT... worthy to mention that you might also get unlucky... :banana-explosion:

Looking at the manual it calls for a 5/8 x 82" belt. Should be able to find one at your local hardware store.

Would it hurt to go with a 80 inch for extra grip

If you can get it to go on, it would not loosen up enough to allow you to shift gears when you step on the clutch.

No need to go with anything special. A normal kevlar will last a long time and have plenty of grip. I use the Husky brand belts from Tractor Supply, but any kevlar belt should work with out issue.

But the best Kevlar belts come from Bando.

If you want... you can call Bearings and Industrial Supply... who can get you any belt you want/need. They are based out of Illinois... Tell them what belt you want, they will go down to Bando headquarters, pick up the belt, and ship it to you.
