Razorback 1,035 #1 Posted October 16, 2021 I was plowing the garden spot today when my C160 quit moving. Belt ok, and I can see it turning the drive pulley on the side of the transmission. What would you experts say has let go inside the transmission?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,050 #2 Posted October 16, 2021 Check to see if one of the rear axles is spinning in one of the wheel hubs. A sheared Woodruff key in one axle is all it takes.

Razorback 1,035 #5 Posted October 17, 2021 OK..... looking at the parts manual........ there is a reference to 5073 transmission and 5091 transmission. Is there a way to tell what I have before I take it apart?

Prior to this with a model number like 1-6041 they added 5 to the 4th digit to get the model year. 4 + 5 = 9 = 1969

That was some interesting stuff. Makes you wonder who came up with that cryptography........ and why???
Ed Kennell 38,241 #13 Posted October 17, 2021 (edited) Check the three drive keys as stated above. Can you feel it engaging all the gears and the hi/low ? Is the input pulley and shaft turning when it is in gear? If not, the rolll pin on the cross shaft may have sheared. I saw the input pulley turning, but I did not notice if it was spinning on the shaft. I will dig the tractor out of the shed and look it over.
Razorback 1,035 #15 Posted October 18, 2021 Yea!!!!!!! Got to look at the tractor this morning..... your input helped!!!! The left rear rim had slid in towards the transmission, exposing the key under the hub and allowing the rim to spin on the axle shaft. I think I am well on the way to fixing this! I will update later with the results.
