Don E 3 #1 Posted October 16, 2021 (edited) I know its a Wheel Horse. I know the engine is not the original. I'm new to red tractors. I've had and restored several of the older Sears Suburbans. This one found it's way to me and all the stickers have been painted over. The tires are dry and cracked but the engine and mower deck turn so I'm just wondering... Any Ideas about what this thing is? and what engine was on it originally? the starter spins if I jump it but doesn't engage the flywheel. ( probably why they quit using it) any thoughts or help would be appreciated. I don't really want to just get it running to use it as is. I'd rather restore it or pass it on to someone else that will... Don Edited October 16, 2021 by Don E more pics
Maxwell-8 4,277 #2 Posted October 16, 2021 (edited) It has a M12 know, had a K-series originally or a tecumsh It is a short-frame, a 6speed, headlights. for sure a higher-end model 50 minutes ago, Don E said: the starter spins if I jump it but doesn't engage the flywheel. echris 1,425 #3 Posted October 16, 2021 Agreed, when I bought my '89 310, the starter worked but was really noisy. A quick cleaning and a drop or two of light machine oil on the shaft and she's been fine since. Interesting retrofit of a Magnum to an older Charger?
squonk 41,162 #4 Posted October 16, 2021 (edited) Look for an I'D' plate on the panel under the steering wheel. I'm going to say a Raider with a Magnum transplant Edited October 16, 2021 by squonk
Sparky-(Admin) 21,345 #5 Posted October 16, 2021 It might be a 1967 model 867. This is mine, has the same decals.

squonk 41,162 #8 Posted October 16, 2021 Tractor looks like a long frame. Look at the distance comparison to the front wheels to the front of the decks

Herder 2,354 #11 Posted October 16, 2021 I love that style... Nothing wrong with having a Franken Horse and Magnums are good running engines. 2

But haven't seen a short frame in person. very rare over here.
953 nut 55,325 #16 Posted October 17, 2021 The serial number on your indicates it is a 1969 Raider Model 1-6041. As usual, @gwest_ca was spot on.

I have one of those😎

A good running magnum may help you to get it passed on to someone or you may like it for yourself. Just saying.
