CrossThread Industries 31 #1 Posted October 12, 2021 Hi Everybody, I have an extra set of 12" rims for my 416-8 (new to me, but it is very "experienced") and want to get Ag tires for it. The area I have to clear is soft topsoil and the Garden tires will be too slick. Deestone makes two sets of D405 Ag wheels, the 6-ply, heavier load DS5245, and the 4-ply, lighter load DS5246 (cheaper). There is about a $40 difference. There are probably more expensive alternatives but these fit my budget, right now... If anyone has some experience or thoughts, I'd like to get these in the next couple of weeks to get clearing the property. One factor is that there used to be some roadwork equipment on the grounds and there may be nails and such in the dirt. My thinking is the 6-ply would be more resistant to puncture, but maybe someone has thoughts about that, too. Cheers - Poughkeepsie Pete
Pullstart 62,911 #2 Posted October 12, 2021 Howdy. We’ve covered Deestone quite a bit. They are a great tire for general all around use, except most people prefer turfs and chains for snow duty. I’d suggest for the 10.5 wide tire, it’ll be closer to 8.5” wide overall. They run quite small compared to other manufacturers.
Pullstart 62,911 #3 Posted October 12, 2021 All of these here Ag tires are Deestone 23x10.50-12. On the one of my kid changing tires, the other tire is a 6-12.
Ed Kennell 38,225 #4 Posted October 12, 2021 Looks like there is only $7:56 difference when you add in the shipping.
oliver2-44 9,759 #5 Posted October 12, 2021 I’ve push a lot of dirt re-landscaping the drainage at my sons house. Used a snow/dozer blade and center mount grader blade. I started with a set of foam filled ag tires that are really heavy and 66lb wheel weights per rear tire. Based on comments on RS I switched to turf tires with chains and the weights. The turfs with chains significantly out pushed the heavy Ag tires. I always meant to ad water to the turfs for more weight but never needed too.
WheelHorse520H 708 #6 Posted October 12, 2021 I have always run non-weighted turf tires with chains and pushed a good amount of snow with my 520 with little problem. To me the only reason to use ags is for on a farm (which I am not so, not sure how they perform there) or for a certain look. Personally I think only certain WHs look good with ags. I would also recommend the 6ply tires. One issue with soft tractor lug tires is the the lug tends to roll back on the tire when put under load. This will result in a loss of traction. The lugs on a stiffer tire will stay square to the ground and give better traction.

If you have a nail issue, go tubeless so you can plug them on the machine. 2 - 23X10.50-12 Deestone D405 4P Super Lug Tires AG DS5245 23x10.5-12 US $129.00 Shipping: $21.85 Standard Shipping | See details Located in: Cleveland, Ohio, United States

CrossThread Industries 31 #10 Posted October 15, 2021 OK, thank you all for the info. It's been all gators and monkeys for me this week so I am just now getting back to the forum. I have had to be good and not play with my new-to-me WH, it's been killing me I'm so busy. I have this extra set of rims so I can have one set with turf's and the other grippers. I have some mudding to do, that's what these mudders will be for. Ima gonna go ahead and get the 6p, then. Thanks for all the help...
Snoopy11 5,714 #11 Posted October 19, 2021 Yeah, I know that you probably already ordered tires, that is perfectly fine. But for guys who want a different option... Greater Cleveland Tire offers these VERY good tires... Don
