Maxwell-8 4,275 #81 Posted January 30, 2022 Started to do some tear-down and some fabrication for the restauration and improvement I will be converting the seatpan and fueltank support to an older style. This will give me some more storage space and will keep out grass and mud out from the shifter area. I went with the thickest metal plate I could work with. So the tractor will weigh a couple extra pounds! This is my C141D currently. the front fender supports were already broken off which I fixed. I put in some spacers between the trans and chassis. therefore more stress will be put on those supports. And since I am raising my fender pan, why not fix all these problems in one. Will have to lengthen the steering shaft. but moving the top part of the dash back 2" allowed me to maintain the same angle of that steering shaft. I needed to modify the hood. SO... for the front, I took a piece of "L" steel and welded it on. Put a hole in the middle, and a bolt through the hood, into the "L" steel. That way you won't end up with a big flat face in the front, breaks it up a little. Also like mentioned before you could add a bumper and/or a frontweight or frontweight-rack Maybe even somekind of hitch? Have been think to make the hood itself longer but that would be very hard whitout a spare hood. Have been considering a weigthbox I measured it up at this will just fit. Pullstart 62,867 #89 Posted February 4, 2022 If you build your bumper big and heavy enough, nobody will ever see the body lift. “Frank” has about a 3” hood lift to clear the big block and meet up with the Raider dash stand. That way you could take up one to one and a half inches. That does depend on how wide the block is on top, might not fit inside the hood. Partially why I had to lift the hood. It currently sits into his stock position, It has to be gravity fed. the metal tank is just to wide to fit behind the dash and I still have to figure a location for the battery. (better did an extension of the frame like on Colossus.) Maybe try and find a smaller metal tank that will fit. But I don't think it's going to be hard getting the tank mounted like it is on the picture. or I may try the other side of the engine? Had to take of diesel tank, fuel and pressurized injection lines, the oil filled airfilter, engine shrouds, just to get the fuel tank supports off. They have to get reshaped to make the hood fit.
