417A Won't move or engage hydraulics.

Hi folks,

I've got a new to me 417A that drove (forward and reverse no problem) about a week ago when I parked it. I had just put a new deck on and it seemed to be cutting fine. I had trouble trying to start it last week, so I cleaned the points today and it started right up. The issue now is that it won't move. Hydraulic is not working either. Transmission fluid looks clean and full. Any ideas on what it could be? Wheel Horse is new to me so I'm not sure where to start looking.  Another note is that the brake doesn't work - but it didn't work when I bought it and it moved fine then. Could something be stuck? Am I missing a switch? Thanks very much!

Just looking at your picture the hydro engagement lever seem to be in the up (disengaged position)  Does the hydro lift work???

The "T" handle lever that I circled should push slight forward and down. When pulled up it loosens the belt between the engine and hydro pump. This would make you loose motion as well as your hydraulic lift.

With the lever down, still no movement with hydraulic or drive. The picture was just an earlier one that I took before this happened.  When I push the drive lever forward or in reverse, the lever under the seat moves accordingly, but I'm not sure how much it should be moving. When I try to raise or lower the deck, there's no movement or sounds at all.

With the lever down is the pulley on is hydro unit turning???  Next make a mark on the hydro pulley extending on to the the shaft it rdes on.  Do the marks stay aligned with the drive engaged??

Sounds like your drive belt may have broken. They are fairly easy to replace and a 5/8" X 82" Kevlar belt from Tractor Supply will do the trick.
