Finally some rest!

With all the damage we had from the storm it’s been working everyday day break to night fall. I am just exhausted from the whole thing . We had to cancel the overseas trip to see our parents because of it also. Finally pretty much all is restored and we are now waiting to board our plane. Will have some time finally to be on here dealing with some enjoyable stuff and not dealing with water mud rocks and destroyed stuff.

I was messing about in our own forest today getting some pathways cleared out and something reminded me of your situation.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. Got here a couple of hours ago and they are already feeding me. It’s all about eating well here. I guess when I get back I am going to have to pickup the push mower again. @Pullhosen’s Pony Express I see that I missed the name change event. 
  I’ll be posting photos from here as I go.

None lost. Luckily all are above at a safe level. Except for a few rust marks from some splashes everything is ok. The only serious damage in there was the recently installed area of flooring under bench which had to be scrapped and some drywall will need to be replaced down close to floor. Of course it was a ton of work to remove all the mud and sediment brought in by water. There were 3 full-size dehumidifiers full blast 24/7 since it happened until I left the other day drying the place.

Never ceases to amaze me the cars available here. Ultra modern and incredible technology and performance. This little “space ship” I rented even has an integrated air freshener into the ventilation system, and one is hard pressed to tell it is a diesel how quite it is. This place is a driver’s dream also. Usually cruising at 100 mph but being passed like I am doing 25. Luckily it even has detectors that warn me of upcoming  highway speed sensors.

Citroen C4  Spacetourer. Like @Stormin said not really a minivan. One of the most pleasurable vehicles I have ever driven.

Here is Portugal my birthplace. It’s actually only the second time I drive a French made vehicle . Very different philosophy and feeling than a German  or a Japanese car.

Indeed. I don’t know if you noticed but there are bars on the windows even the front one which is high . It happens rather frequently but not always in these old churches. I was always intrigued by that and never figured out why until it was explained to me why by an old wood carver who was an idol of mine. The altars inside are even more elaborate and extensive  than the outside of building. They are entirely carved out of wood and gilded with actual gold leaf. It was not uncommon for these places to be broken into to steal the gold along other valuables in there. The door of course is impenetrable usually being up to four inches thick or more secured from the inside with some incredible hand forged iron hardware. 
it’s hard to find this particular place open but if I can I will get some photos of the inside.

Never owned a French vehicle but have been impressed with the ones I driven. The other one was a Renault. They are all over here many over 30 years old with over and over 800,000 kilometers on them.

Not the first time I've heard that. 

 

I once worked with a British fella. 

He was VERY surprised to learn that us yanks had "renn-oh's" that weren't amazing and also how few diesel cars were sold... And how unreliable they were.

Worked at a dealership when AMC/ JEEP got tangled up with Renaults. We call them the unfixable car.
