New Bear Hauler

Recommended Posts

ebinmaine

I know it doesn't exactly meet the standard of "Horse hauler" but I'm pretty happy.

This is the first time I've ever bought a new car ... For me.

Had other new rides in past lives. This one's mine.

Researched. Chosen. Found. Bought.

2022 Kia Soul XL.

I bought a base model on purpose because the only options I even mildly desired were heated seats and mirrors which are part of a pricier model.

I'll accessorize this one some.

Plan is to keep it for 4 to 6 years and sell or trade depending on future market conditions.

I bought our Mazda 2 brand new 13 years ago. First new car I've ever bought. I paid for it, Carol drives it and it's still going strong. Though in the first year and a half of ownership, it did get smashed up twice. No fault of Carols either time. First time a woman hit the off side front wing. (That'll be the near side to you.)  Second time a woman opened the rear passenger door just as Carol was driving past.

Hope I've not got you worried, Eric. :D

I’m not sold on their new badges.  Looks more like KN than KIA.  Hope it works well for ya buddy!

Kia do have a good reputation over here. The farm I go to has had a little one for 5yrs as a runabout.

Ya know... I haven't the foggiest idea..

I'll have The Light Illumination Department check on it.

My son bought a Kia Soll last year, and has been happy with it.  Great gas mileage.  Good luck with yours.

The top center is the 3rd brake light. The rest of the top does not light.

The sides are fully light.

Turn signals/hazard lamps are amber instead of red.

That's a big selling point for me.

The big question is do the rear seats fold down and will the cargo space accept a tractor :eusa-think: !

They do fold down.

Not big enough to hold a whole tractor.

I am considering getting a trailer hitch.

Congratulations on the new ride Eric. I've not had any experience with that model, most everything around here has a blue oval, 6 tires, 200K plus miles, and gets 7.5 MPG  but I do know a few people who own those and they seem to be pretty satisfied with them.

heated seats

The heated seats in my wife's SUV are a back saver on long trips;    they are better than a trip to the chiropractor.

What type of towing capacity does the Kia have? Probably need trailer brakes for such a light tow vehicle.

Towing capacity on this particular vehicle is kind of..... odd.

If you buy this exact same car in most parts of Europe or Australia it's rated to tow 2400 lb, American with a properly braked trailer.

Here in the United States of America litigation environment however, it isn't actually "rated"  to tow anything...

Kia as a corporation does not recommend towing in the USA.

There are dealers around the country however that do state the same capacity as the other countries around the world...

I won't buy a hitch for at least a couple months until after the recommended break-in. Is done. Before I do I need to do some legal research.

Don't drive it to California, it will probably cause cancer there, I see it already has a yellow tumor growing on the front.

Anyway, congratulations!
