WHX?? 48,833 #1 Posted October 10, 2021 (edited) For Helping me out with a nice trio of horses. Was a great weekend and loved doing windshield time with ya. Cindy says yer the perfect house guest! He brought over a show Senior from Eastern MI.on Friday night. We then proceeded on Saturday to pick up a fine fine 855 and an even finer 520H FEL from @cschannuth from MO who gracious enough to meet us half way in IL for the score. Saved eight hours off our travel time Craig! Yes wished we could have hung out more and chewed the rag. 855 is up and running with not much effort & more on that and the other horses later. Throw in some pics you got @Pullhosen’s Pony Express when yer done with today's score. Edited October 11, 2021 by WHX?? 6 15
Pullstart 62,917 #2 Posted October 10, 2021 Stopped to let the coffee out. sorry for the trick @19richie66, we were just housing a wondering stallion for a few weeks… that’s until Uncle Jim is ready to send it back my way! Yeah boys and girls, I’m calling dibs! 1 11

Mrs. P and I picked this Senior, a 1 bottom plow and a cultivator up from @gt-mtb a few weeks ago. He’s a great guy and helped us load it very carefully. 4 10 1
Pullstart 62,917 #4 Posted October 10, 2021 During it’s stay, I set it to mingle with the other classics hoping for baby seniors to pop out. 5 5 3
Pullstart 62,917 #5 Posted October 10, 2021 The crank start is cool, it I found a spare rope start to make starting a little easier. I managed to get the hood raised enough to snap a picture of the engine serial number and change the spark plug. Then we had some drive time together. 7 1

WHX?? 48,833 #7 Posted October 10, 2021 Got her in the shop now. Repacked a leaking sediment bowl and added a filter. Gas has got an odd milky color but starts first pull and runs better now. 1

WHX?? 48,833 #16 Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) On to the 855 @Bailey855 I is catching up to you on the '65s Kev kinda wanted to go out and get it running last nite but I was road burnt and just wanted to kick back. To honor him after I threw his sorry @$$ out this morning I tied into her. Popped off the fuel tank and cleaned it up. Took off the gonna leak bowl and put on a regular gas cock. Had a brand new 70 amp switch in her and a new shift boot ....thank you Craig..... but the wiring was nothing up to my par so rewired her quick and gas lines. The gas line was 1/4" aluminum pilot line Squonky @squonk with compression fittings! Replaced it all with rubber and a filter. Threw a battery in it and she fired right off with a little sniffing salts. Thing runs sweet as a .... family site @cschannuth..... even mowed a bit with her. I have no idea what I am gonna do with it I certainly don't need a mower. I can see it as a good tractor to throw the mid mount blade on and give that smoker 867 I got from @Shynon a rest. Very possible as a ride around at next year's show circuit. Edited October 11, 2021 by WHX?? 4

How quiet is that deck? Everyone I run across bangs and clangs louder than they should. I'm calling Dibs on the deck if it's quiet and you're gettin rid of it next year. Guessing the blades need an edge. It's yours if you want it but I noticed the front is pushed in but might easy to straiten with a BFH. Appears at some time in her life someone tried to mow a stump.

squonk 41,162 #24 Posted October 11, 2021 I've had several where the cross shaft chucks back and forth and the side gears bang on the spindle gears. Just want one that doesn't sound like it's gonna blow up when I feel like doing some old school mowing.
WHX?? 48,833 #25 Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) I'll pull it off and get some pics Sqounky and you let me know you want it. I'll set it aside for you. I usually pull the deck off anyway on a new to me just to make it easier to work on the tractor. On to the FEL Thing is immaculate paint not even worn off the bucket. This will be my 5th 520 and the cleanest one yet other than the sno rig I got from Denny @dclarke. Only thing we noticed right away is the very beefy 18 inch V on the right side front can rub on the HY pump suction line fittings. You might never have noticed it Craig if you were running it on flat ground but on my uneven turf with the tires cranked to the left yep an issue. Fairly easy fix tho, rework the suction fittings or spin the pump 90 degrees and re-plumb. It was mentioned that the tractor was in the Duke's @HorseFixer s barn at one time. Craig built the FEL from PF engineering plans https://www.loaderplans.com/ and did a really nice job. Kev thought the welds all looked good and he knows way better than I. Only other thing is the seat & pto switch has gotta go. I couldn't get use to disengaging the pto which runs the HY pump so if you slid off the seat to get something in the bucket it kills the motor. To restart you have to get back in the seat disengage the pto then remember to reengage the pto for hydraulics. Way to much to remember for my lost brain cells! On the good side is she has also got a Matt's pedal kit on her. I have two other ones on 520s but this is the smoothest by far and I can appreciate how difficult it can be to get them set up perfectly. Tires are loaded, inside weights and he threw in the two suitcases so will look for more and possibly outside weights. After playing with the joystick you can get both bucket and arms to operate at the same time once you get her down. Thoughts on how/where to put a box for lifting chains? Maybe a hang on ballast box with rocks in it instead of suitcases in the middle and a space for for chains? Yah the joystick needs to get bobbed closer to the steering wheel.
