Kohler Filter Breather

Recommended Posts

oliver2-44

Has anyone found a substitute for the mesh breather material Kohler sells?

I need several, and on several sites and they were around $12  found them on evilbay for $6

I don't want to hurt an engine with small plastic pieces separating and  floating around.

But then again I've removed a few Kohler one that were falling apart when removed.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Check these out Jim, I have not tried them myself, but I have them ready to try when I get the chance.  Won't shred or rust.  Pads are 3" x 6" x 5/16"

Yup go to Lowes or what ever and buy a Scothbrite pad. Cut what you need and give the rest to the dishwasher in the family.

Comes with 2 in a package, might do 6 Horse breathers...at least 4 for like $3.  :occasion-xmas:

I'm not sure that I would use one of the abrasive coated versions of the Scotchbrite pads as a filter.  That provides a source of abrasives to get pulled into the engine.  The non-abrasive dish scrubber version would be OK.
