Its hard to believe the Allisons are becoming more common than manual transmissions these days. No one knows how to shift or not destroy a clutch in 6 months.

Basically everything that goes on the outside of a building. Siding shingles windows doors etc. I do enjoy running up through the gears but I have to admit these automatic transmissions are sure nice 🙂.

Thats one of the new things I just haven't come around to yet. We just got a new to us rollback at work, with an Allison. I have yet to drive it...its a nice truck but I refuse to give up my old Freightliner FL60 with the 5.9 Cummins and 6 speed behind it. Automatics are great in small cars and half ton pickups, anything bigger than that I want to be able to shift my own gears. But then again I have been accused of being old fashioned by the guys at the shop more than once. The original plan was to sell the Freightliner once the new truck was up and running, but our new boss changed his mind after I told him if he sold my truck he'd be running the towing side of things solo, cause I wasn't driving no rig with an auto in it. Beautiful view from your trip today, thanks for sharing 1
troutbum70 857 #11 Posted October 8, 2021 I remember many a day coming back off long island and through the city thinking if I have push that clutch in one more time and hold it I will never make it. An automatic would have been very handy. Erick I always enjoyed my fall trips through New England. 1

slim67 2,735 #14 Posted October 8, 2021 Definitely beautiful scenery. As long as your getting a paycheck it really doesn’t matter what’s in it. It’s easier to find drivers these days from what I’m told. I see automatics becoming the norm. Be safe out there.

After a few long trips with my safety flip flops and a strong clutch in Norman, I too have had some leg cramps and/or foot soreness. Otherwise, I’m like @ClassicTractorProfessor, gimme a stick any day over auto! More control, more connectivity to the road, more attention to what I’m doing and my surroundings. @ebinmaine we practically missed our color tour here last weekend on a trip south, thanks for getting paid to bring all us along!

My wife and I have a 2020 ford f-350 with the power stroke which pulls our 5th wheel camper, I have lost count of the times I have wished I could swap out that automatic transmission for a road ranger. 1

troutbum70 857 #19 Posted October 8, 2021 Watched a news article this mourning on how the later winters and earlier springs are having a negative affect on moose in Maine, due to the ticks being around longer and sucking more blood out of them.
