stevasaurus 22,861 #51 Posted October 9, 2021 BTW...all of the inside gears look great. Change the seals, and maybe 1 or 2 bearings, clean it out and put it back together. You know, looking at the pictures, you must have the other hub off to get the case that far open. You may have to drop it back down a little and file the end of the right axle end (burrs). Otherwise just keep jacking that deep side off with the differential in it. Use 2x4's and shims to left it out of the axle bearing...it is going to be heavy on the differential side...try to keep it straight. It will come out. stevasaurus 22,861 #54 Posted October 9, 2021 Yes, with one hub off, you can pull out the deep end with the whole differential. It will be awkward, because of the weight, but if you can keep it level, it will come out. Then you can take the differential apart, including the roll pin that holds in the axle, and then you will have just the axle and that hub on. You can get that pressed off without cutting the hub. Moparfanforever 858 #55 Posted October 9, 2021 HA , GOT IT !!! I grabbed ahold of the stuck hub and pulled straight up and the case slid right off. Also pressed the hub off of the axle with two loud bangs. Steve , you were right , crusty needle bearing froze up and nasty axle. Both needle bearings are pretty bad. These two gears are kinda iffy or OK ??? Going to be replacing all seals , both axle needle bearings. Anything else i should replace ?? Everything else looks and feels okay , but want to be safe.
