the 1984 GT-1600 has a engine model # 402437 and the number 422437 is the 1984 GT-1800

I think the GT-1600 is a 16HP and the GT-1800 is 18HP.

First two digits of the model are the displacement, 40 ci vs 42 ci , but the data shows the 42 as 40.15 ?

Maybe they slipped a decimal and added a zero?

I suppose the actual c.i. could be calculated from the bore and stroke. But that data shows a VERY small difference in those numbers!  Could that small difference amount to 2 c.i. ?  No... definitely not.  IF the bore and stroke is correct!

Looks like there's a mistake there... or somewhere... they list this one:

Which makes more sense...

Here's the B&S specs on both.  The 18HP was a 'stroker' version of the 16HP.  The piston is the same.

I must have flipped around the numbers.  My fingers don't move as quick as my thoughts do...

Btw, I noticed a Kohler M10 in the classifieds just now. That would be a nice repower if the Tecumseh cannot be saved.

I will look at it even for a backup motor
