I mounted all mine except the 25's on the 312.  They had a few problems getting the 25's to seat on the rims they just didn't want to pop out there. The 4 ply 8" can give some trouble but I got them on.

I reckon so… I might still give it a shot on wheels that was not freshly powder coated…

Be sure to request/remind them to use proper tire lube. 

Just in case the installer is new or impatient...

At the lawn equipment dealer getting my tires put on the rims…as the mechanic was helping me unload them I asked how much $$$… he said “ Oh a tire repair is $15 plus valve stems at $2.50 a piece.

I smiled inside… 15+15+15+15+2.50+2.50+2.50+2.50=
$70, add the guvments cut…not too bad I thought.

Carried the tires and wheels inside…

He asked me to step inside the service department office and have the nice young lady write me up.

She filled out the ticket and shoved it towards me to sign…

I said “ How much?”, before I signed it…

$90.00 she says…

See what happens guys?…

Guy says 60… not bad…

Gal says 90… See what I’m saying ?…

they gonna cost you !

 

But, in reality, throw in the valve stems and tax, and I can see how it would jump up…

Had my tires put on my rims… a little disturbed that they scratched my wheels a little… the man warned me that they may get scratched.

Oh well it’s a tractor, not a trailer queen…

Not gonna try to touch them up… that would probably look worse…

 

On the fronts… are those black plastic spindle caps supposed to just snap on the large washer, or slide down on the wheel hub a little ?

The tires should toe in 1/8" to max 1/4". The new tires with sharp edges are going to make noise on that slick floor until they get worn a little. Doesn't look that far off is the steering wheel centered. That's usually the hard part of getting the toe in right.

Center the steering wheel and the underside flag of the steering system. 

Then adjust each side as needed.

If you don't center the wheel before adjusting you will steer more in one direction than the other.

NASCAR anyone?

When I was first reinstalling the steering, I tried to get the “spokes” in the steering wheel centered when the wheels were straight, but…

I would go one gear tooth one way and it would be off… one gear tooth the other way and it would be off…

So I had to settle with the spokes not centered on the steering wheel like a “Y”.

But I definitely need to adjust that toe in.

I could tell one front wheel was fighting the other, even considering the new tires being “sticky” on the epoxy floor.

If I want to turn left real good, I’ll just run a lower air pressure in the left side tires to reduce the circumference of the left tires…

I learned that trick when I ran on the “Outlaw” circuit… I wouldn’t lie…

I would touch them up. You do not want raw steel exposed with powder coat, trust me.

 

Just get yourself a little fine brush (model kit stuff at wally world), and a white can of Rust-Oleum. Spray a little in the cap and dip the fine brush in it. Dab it in the center of the scratch. Capillary action will draw it into the scratch, and even if it looks like a blob it will shrink as it dries. Several of my tractors have touch ups like that, and it works well.

If you can't get the steering wheel line up. most likely the triangle was off center when it was welded. We have seen them way off, the welded must have came in on Monday with a hang-over.
