Had one similar but different.

Let a bunch of 10yr olds destroy it though.   :snooty:

@Felix my experience opinion , would be to aerosol  penetrating oil spray / wipe down first , till dry , then clear coat it , you will have lubricated and rustproofed that metal , giving you a unique  patina look , pete

You can achieve that bare metal look by hand, that's how I did it.

No special tools or talent needed, you just gotta want it.

I used Rustoleum Crystal Clear on “Frank”’s bare metal parts.  It’s holding up very well after 2 years.  I think I’d like to try satin clear on one though…

Just Made some teak foot rest covers as they had gone out of shape and a bit weak . I’ll bolt these through the metal and it should give them some strength back. Transmission is back together and bolted back on.
might get the old girl started at weekend

Here’s a picture of it with the wheels back on and on a test drive.

Well I like it! Seems the rat rod thing is in full bloom. These things are cyclical, and I’m a bit off cycle!

:text-coolphotos:              Got to get the children involved at an early age and keep them interested.    That is a calendar shot for sure.

Thank you. I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out considering it cost next to nothing to do. Kids like it 👍🏻
