hard to see

I can't quite place what it is but I think there's something wrong there...

Tried to get under my machine to get photos at the same angle, but since I've got the helper spring hooked up it gets in the way.

The pin on the flag is definitely supposed to be in the upper hole (the one farthest "inward") and the flag definitely should have a couple inches still in the lift tube when the blower is lowered and the lift lever is fully forward. Something is amiss.

If the flag is coming out of the lift tube, that suggests that it might be not the correct flag or not the correct tube (there are differences across models) or the blower is mounted too far forward or something has been modified.

I'm not expert on this, but those that are will want to see the blower model number, the attachment at the rear axle, and an overall shot showing how them blower is aligned to the tractor. It'll help if you can grab some picture and post them. Someone will figure this out!

Oops, just looked at the earlier part of the thread and I see the numbers there and that it's a one-stage blower so no axle connection--only front attachamatic. Other pics still will be helpful.

I think there were two different length tubes.

@87buickt  Can you measure the length of the hollow tube that the lift flag slides into please?  Mine is 44" give or take.  I think you may have the short tube there.

And BTW, you should have enough room to get a flatwasher between the bracket and the clip:

And that clip should not be inserted that far, the 'hump' in the one leg should be on the pin, like so:

Note the two big flatwashers between the end of the tube and the lift flag.  In general there should be two washers there.

When you raise the blower, how close does the lift rod get to the bottom of the front axle?

I have zero washers on the lift flag, but after getting someone to help me lift assembly I was able to monitor and determine I Will need washers on lift flag in order to get it to lock, as far as a washer on stud of lift flag it’s an eBay special and theirs only enough stud sticking through to put that clip in, but since I’ll be buying washers tomorrow, when In rome

How many?  If it's more than three or four I would think about using a short piece of pipe cut to the length you need.

That’s probobaly what I’m going to do to ensure a good lock, I had my buddy lift the blower assembly up and only then was I able to get it to stay up but it was just barrrrrely catching to hold.

How much of the flag rod will be inserted?

Did you measure your rod?  Is it shorter than 44" ?

I'm not expert on this,

Don's comment about modified rings true for me.  Last year I raised my tractor by roughly 1.5", and I was thrilled with being able to cut my grass higher. Last winter I found that although I could still get the snowblower on the front and connect the drive belt, I had to adjust the length of the lift shaft to be able to use it. Paul and Ed were very helpful in sorting it out but sometimes what one thinks is an improvement leads to other unintended developments.

That said I suspect that moving your flag to the second hole, adding some washers and tweaking that pin will work for you.

Good luck!!!

After using my 8-25 mower successfully for several years I noticed the belts were very worn. I replaced the belts and used the mower several mowings this past summer with no problems until as I was mowing the last time the mower would not move in any gear. After stopping and inspecting the traction belt it was almost completely destroyed. Prior to this I had noticed that the engage/disengage lever was getting hard to activate (very stiff). Has anyone had a similar thing happen?
Thanks in advance for any help on this problem.
Just want to keep my mower running.

I’m trying to restore my grandfathers old 252-H to use around my property. The tires are shot and the rims aren’t too far behind. Anyone have any recommendations for rims and tires that would fit well on it?

      right now it has 22 x 7.50 - 12 on the back and 15 x 6 - 6 on the front.

I recently acquired a 520xi. She's a pretty sweet machine and I took a liking to her before she landed in my garage. I've used her a few times this spring to haul some brush around in her trailer.
As the grass grew taller, however, I knew it was time to put the deck on her and start mowing. Note: this is my first wheelhorse, and also this was the first time I'd mown with her. Anyway, I did about half an hour of mowing (about half of my lawn), having turned her pto on and off a few times for various reasons, when at some point I turned the pto off to back out from between the dead-end swath between 2 trees I had just mown. I backed out, turned around, lined myself up to get back on track with the mowing, pulled the pto knob, and....nothing. Or so I thought at first.
There is a quiet, though definitely present sound whenever I pull the pto knob on. At first I thought the blades might be stuck or something and the drive belt was sliding on the pto pulley. After some inspection, I found it wasnt. I prooved it wasn't by taking the drive belt off the pto and trying to turn the pto on. I still hear that same sound and the engine acts slightly stressed when I turn the pto on.
One last thing. I turned the engine off, took the front grill off the tractor and tried to turn the pto pulley. It moves but is stopped by some kind of what looks like a safety stop (a bar on the pulley hitting a bar in the way).
Anyway, this is where I'm at. If anyone knows or has any idea why what's happening is happening and/or how to fix it Id appreciate it very much.

I recently bought a 520xi lawntractor (got it today, it's sweet!)
But I figured Id look for a snowblower while its off season. I found a few, but I'm not sure if theyll fit.
One is a model# 79263 it's close to the model # listed on toro site as fitting the 5xi. Will it work?
