D_Mac 9,300 #101 Posted July 10, 2024 I have had smokers in the past, never a pellet grill Pretty sure this one needs a new hot rod as they call it. I ordered one, should be here by end of the week. Mmmmm I can taste those ribs now.
D_Mac 9,300 #102 Posted July 14, 2024 So an update on the Traeger. Turns out it wasn't the hot rod that was defective. It was the fan. Got it all figured out now and made some ribs in it yesterday. 2 2 1
D_Mac 9,300 #103 Posted July 21, 2024 Picked this off the side of the road last night. Took me all morning to straighten it out. Also was missing about a dozen nuts and bolts. Working g good now ! 20240721_133529.mp4 3

It gets to rest in the cold weather as it would have trouble heating up.

Maybe buy some spray paint and see if I can't sell it on CL. @cleat. You can see in the background I had the traeger out again today. Did up a pork loin . Came out excellent. Pork loins did get the credit they deserve. It wad delicious. What is your favorite ?

I agree that pork loin roast and pork chops are our favorites Whole chicken tastes great but the skin is always a bit tough and rubbery. boneless skinless chicken breasts cook up real nice without being dry at all. Ribs come out great with enough prep and care. I have only smoked one brisket but it turned out great as well. Steaks are great on it as well but we only tend to cook them once or twice a year due to the cost. I have never made roast beef on the traeger. Burgers and hot dogs I now just do on the gas grill as it tastes about the same and is way faster.

My neighbor put a windmill just like that along the road with a free sign, I got it and placed it over the well as a visual aid when backing trailers around. 2

Wayne0 1,148 #111 Posted April 12 I have a full set of tools, I had a full set at work when I retired. My Dad had a full set when he passed. Wood and mechanic tools. You name it. I had no space for all, so sorted and kept what I wanted and put the rest on an 8' table at the end of the driveway with a "Free" sign. Put a box marked "Donations" on the table. Made $6.00. 5
Handy Don 13,847 #112 Posted April 12 I had a nice maple kitchen table with a built-in leaf to move along. I set it out at the end of the drive with a “FREE” sign. I also left a wrench on a string tied to the table and a sign that said “Use this wrench to disassemble the table to get it into your car then please leave it in the mailbox." Not an hour later I looked out and the table was gone and the wrench was in the box. Success! 6
lynnmor 7,764 #113 Posted April 12 I drove past a very large box full of HVAC parts today, on my return trip only the box remained. It obviously fell off a truck since it was not near any dwelling so I guess the contractor had a short day.
D_Mac 9,300 #114 Posted April 13 Got this off of CL for free. Owner said it hadn't run in 10+ years. Got it home and sprayed the linkage down with some penetrating oil let it soak a bit. The choke and throttle were just stuck. Couldn't move them. Worked them back and forth until they moved freely. Gave it a squirt of carb cleaner in the carb. It fired on one pull and this nest and debris came shooting out. I need to clean or replace the carb. No gas is flowing. Hey for free it's worth it. 9hp Craftsman Chipper. 2
squonk 43,599 #115 Posted April 13 (edited) I had an "unscheduled free " sale out front a few years back. Had a nice "window shaker" AC unit sitting there with a For Sale sign on it. Heard a car pull up. Went outside and by the time I got past the bushes so I could see the car was leaving with the AC and the sign as well! For a piece of plastic! 1 hour ago, squonk said: I had an "unscheduled free " sale out front a few years back. A 94 year old guy once told me how he wanted to get rid of a piece of furniture so he put it out by the road with a sign “FREE FOR THE TAKING.” Nobody took it. So a week or so later he changed the sign to “FOR SALE: $5.00.” It sold right away. People are funny. 3

I've been getting these ones from a company called Olsa tool: https://www.amazon.com/Olsa-Tools-Portable-Organizer-Sockets/dp/B073QMWYGK/ref=pd_lpo_d_sccl_2/143-8391420-4770050?pd_rd_w=0dxUQ&content-id=amzn1.sym.4c8c52db-06f8-4e42-8e56-912796f2ea6c&pf_rd_p=4c8c52db-06f8-4e42-8e56-912796f2ea6c&pf_rd_r=80W1YP10C5A6AP0DHRZA&pd_rd_wg=9khwP&pd_rd_r=bc513ae0-7a9d-4e3b-bf8c-ec32d29fba03&pd_rd_i=B073QMWYGK&th=1 They are higher in price than what those little plastic ones are, but they are durable. I originally found a very similar one from Matco. The big differences were Matco has different color selections, a magnetic back, and costs twice as much. But they are very vice. We were having a yard sale and had a wicker couch and chair with torn-up cushions, had it marked FREE and no takers. There was a brief rain storm and we drug everything into the garage, the free sign got lost in the shuffle and a couple offered us $ 20.00 for them. I have 10mm shallow and deep in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 and two swivels 1/4 and 3/8, shallow and deep 1/4 magnets, a semi-deep 1/4, a RBRT 10mm, and chromes in 1/4 and 3/8. 14 in total. Matco was running this killer deal about 2 years ago, buy a rail with every 8mm socket they make for $150 and get another rail with every 10mm they make. I couldn't say no. ohiofarmer 3,367 #125 Posted April 15 . My idea of socket holders is to buy the strip magnets for 2 bucks as a substitute socket rail. Then cut tapered wedges as little fences to contain the sockets in place. A more fancy version could be made with Forstner bits
