Today's haul - Two Very rugged home made garden carts. The wheels are fixed to the pvc and the pvc rotates. Pretty slick. I'm thinking mini trailers for the train... we'll see...

WHX??

Sorry to have to tell you boys this but I just curbed a nice ladies style 10 speed Schwinn. Nice set of genny lights on it and everything. :hide:

Asked twelve dozen people if they wanted it and even a bike dealer dissed me. Out it went more room for tractors. B)

Another trash night another perfectly functional bike... Mongoose. 21 speed. This one is in even better shape then last week's... oiled chain, air in tires and it rides perfectly...

IMHO you ought to give a quick check with the local constabulary. I’d strongly suspect you’ve got a stolen bike that the thief dumped.

Spoke with home owner and a neighbor as we walked by... Just cleaning out the garage... Two completely flat tires and the dust on it spoke volumes...

Over the years, I've gotten many good things via "roadside shopping".   One time it was a brand new or barely used dishwasher, which I miraculously was somehow able to squeeze into the back seat of the Sentra I was driving that day. I stuck it in the basement, and a few years later when the dishwasher we had died, that freebie went into production like a champ.  Another time it was a 10 foot stepladder that had obviously been used but was in good shape... fell off a truck without the owner noticing...

Technically not a throw away... Neighbor cleaning out garage... knows a guy :hide: who would take it... :eusa-think:

Anyone hazard if it's a "collectible" of any value as is? I'm thinking :wh: red / black / white as a pedestrian companion for the SL & WHN RR during the Memorial Day parade this year... the blue just hurts my eyes... :scared-eek:

Thanks Ed...

Looks like $45-$125 is the range, in better shape than this one...

I'm thinking repaint like a :wh: and add value as a Wheel Horse Wannabe...

I have a few old wagons. The one with the flowers is the oldest. It had spoke wheel but they were rotted out. I replaced them with wheels I took off the hot rod wagons and just painted them to look rusty.

Interesting thing about those "manual" chargers...they work well with lithium ion batteries. The LI batteries have a built in circuit to stop charging when full. Modern multi stage chargers get "tricked" and don't fully charge the LI batteries which is not good for the battery. Nice score!

Looking on CL this morning I saw this add for free grill that needs repair. So I went and picked it up. Spent all morning cleaning it. It was so dirty. Took 2 bottles of simple green and a lot of elbow grease to get it so I could even touch it without getting greasy dirty. Needs a new grease bucket and a heating rod. It's a Trager Tailgater Wood Pellet Smoker / Grill. They go for like 450. Hot Rod cost me 12 bucks. Elbow grease was free. I can't wait to get the heating rod in and smoke me some meat !!!

Not surprised to see easily repaired grilles and smokers going for free or peanuts.

Minor repairs are not minor to many folks.

Smoking takes care and patience.

Posted (edited)

I recently was talking with a guy that does Handy Man jobs. He said repairing non working pellet grills was a steady money maker for him. Many just needed the ash bucket and pellet feed auger cleaned. In other words “basic maintenance”

Gas grills can be an easy fix too. The grill at church sits outside under a cooking shelter, had only one burner working and they were talking about replacing it. I removed the burners, ran a bottle brush through each to remove the insect nests and now it is good as new.

@ SLYVANLAKE WH , makes me think of the bike I won for my sister , it was a ROSS girls bike , already had a couple of modified  bikes of my own , did a pick and push pad , that showed  what you won / or not , had a choice of , boys or girls bikes , got it in powder blue , she went nuts !  got a big  thanks from the family for thinking of her , also think the ERA  helped , support was encouraged  and regularly thought of others , pete
