Gregor 4,846 #1 Posted September 24, 2021 can you go? I read the invitation from @stevebo to attend a meet and greet. I would like to go, but Ct. is a bit far for me. This statement did however raise a question in my mind. "As in years past we will take our 5 mile ride........." Just how far can you go on a tractor filled with fuel I know it will depend on the model of tractor of course. Let's say a C-125? 656? 876? I believe my 656 is very reliable, but I'm not sure I could go 5 miles without a pit stop. Any ideas?
rjg854 11,361 #2 Posted September 24, 2021 I know I can plow snow for a couple of hours, and I believe that a Commando 8 does about 6 miles an hour. So 1 tankful should do it easy.

You can go far: This movie is based on a true story of a man traveling 240miles on his John Deere. I would feel very comfortabel taking a machine in good shape for a multiple hour drive. Kohler's were also used on generators that run constanly for hours. I think I will be tired before the machine is. EDIT: OOPS, I got the question wrong, I am sorry Edited September 24, 2021 by Maxwell-8

I should think that tractor would probably drive at LEAST 10 MI on a tank full.
Pullstart 62,877 #5 Posted September 24, 2021 All of this theory depends on whether or not @AMC RULES is tied on behind you or not I’d imagine road gear would get you pretty far just puttin’ around.
Skipper 1,788 #6 Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) Are we talking on a full tank, or what would be comfortable? Edited September 24, 2021 by Skipper

pfrederi 17,739 #8 Posted September 24, 2021 C-81 with its 3 gal underseat tank and fuel sipping K-181 would be hard to beat for distance....

AMC RULES 37,130 #12 Posted September 24, 2021 On occasion people do run out of gas at these events, like everywhere else, it's not the end of the world. Wait 5 mins and a gas can will roll by.

EHbout... 30 minutes at 7,000 RPM on Hell-Horse. More if I don't use my lead foot to race all the cars... I ain't that good at math... someone else might better answer this... 8mph at under 2,000 rpm... saving fuel. Double that at 16 mph at 4,000rpm... 2 thousand more... 24 mph... maybe more... I'd have to slow down in school zones... No need for a slow moving vehicle orange triangle on the back of the tractor... Don 1

8ntruck 7,004 #16 Posted September 24, 2021 I saw one of those horse drawn tank wagons somewhere in our recent travels. We were driving some two lane roads in north west Indiana/north east Illinois. The one we saw was in rougher shape than the one pictured, though..... 2
