Quick Question on a 2 Stage Snow Blower

Recommended Posts

Hey all, rebuilding my 2 Stage snow blower and well it took over a month for the parts to get here and I umm... forgot exactly how this thing goes back together. I'm trying to put the impeller bearing in and want to be sure I'm doing this right. Basically you sandwich the bearing between the two bearing plates shown in the link below or so I thought. After I bolted it all together, the bearing is floating around in-between the plates. I then noticed a hole in the one side of the bearing plate (the plate with the 3 holes in it, not the bearing collar... I have this set screw) which I can only assume is for a set screw. I'm assuming you put the shaft through, bolt it all up and tighten down the set screw so the bearing spins as it should instead of spinning in the housing. Can anyone confirm this?  I must have lost the set screw if that's what this is. If it is in fact a set screw hole, does anyone know what thread size the screw is or where I can get a replacement?

That part you linked looks like a bushing and not an actual bearing. It's been a long time since having mine apart but pretty sure I just bought a bearing off the shelf to fit in the original flanges that hold it. Flanges pinch it tight with no set screws

Should look like these

It's a bearing. I don't understand why but the flanges aren't pinching the bearing tight. The bearing I got matches the original perfectly. I'll have to take it all back apart I guess to see what the problem might be if there is in fact no set screw.
