Auction find work horse 700 ?

No pics yet. I just saw it at a consignment auction coming up on Saturday. I think it is a work horse 700. But? I need some info from you all. It has a Tecumseh engine with recoil and electric start. A 3 spd. Tranny. And? A 3 pulley pto drive. So far? So good. Now the question? The engine is white. It has the tank mounted on the engine. There is a half-moon notch cut into the left side hood, for the air cleaner to fit when the hood is closed. The air cleaner is oblong shaped. It looks like a factory cut-out. Because it is very smooth and matches the air cleaner perfectly. Did they come that way. Or do we have a repower situation? Either way. If the price is right? It will be on my trailer.😁😁😁😁😁

Here is what the engine should look like. This came off a 700. If you get it and need engine parts, this is available. Don’t know anything about it except it turns over by hand. Never messed with it. Going Kohler 14hp.

I have a work horse 700 that belonged to my grandfather. The tecumseh in it ran like crap no matter what I did to it so I took it out and put in an 8hp kohler. Runs great now!

Pat , that has been re-powered with a later Tecumseh engine .  The hood was trimmed to fit around the air cleaner filter housing.   Seen it done like that many times.   My 606 originally came that way from the PO.    It worked well but didn’t look original.  Those newer Tecumseh engines were good running engines. So with that said, don’t let that stop you from getting it.

just my 2 cents😎.
