I've heard of a 16 horse V-Twin Briggs in the late seventies c161. Maybe a little later they used an 18 horse?

 

Not a 22 though.

 

I'll be curious to see what the others say.

The 16hp B&S WH installed were opposed twins.  however there have been a lot of repowers over the years.

Stock no, Onan's can be find original in WH up to 20hp. 

 

WheelHorses were made before the times when manufacturers were competing by making the most Horsepower. Most of that extra power is useless and only uses more fuel.

 

A 12hp Kohler can perfectly do most jobs, tilling, snowblowing, mowing with a 48" deck. 

 

A 22hp Brigss can only be a vanguard I think, they started production after '95
