It's one of the best ways to break the crank. again this is the first for me to remove the fly wheel and I have tried so many ways to remove it but the darn thing turns and for sure I do not want to use a crow bar or any thing else that might cause damage to the fins ;if you have any thoughts as to how to do it I am sure open as this thing is really getting to me again it is so odd that it has always started up for the years that I have had it before this all started ; even having the carb rebuilt plus buying a new carb for a 100 bucks from a wheel horse dealer which did not help as the same issue but once I was able to get it to run once I engaged the blades the motor would die out which is odd as the belts are new and under it is clean as each time I mow I always wash it out ;now reading the Manuel I did check the trigger pins where the long pin is suppose to be set at 006 the short pin at 010 so really it should had started even using a emery board to clean both pins ;so trying to prime it and the carb bowel has fuel with the choke and the throttle opened it still will not start ;sad that I have done every thing plus more but still nothing 'there is spark off the plug and that black wire with a test light it lights up so again there is power to the plug and the plug is new so again I have compression and spark 'so really where do I go from here use it for parts Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Your tractor CAN be fixed. It's just a matter of finding the person/shop that has the knowledge and tools to repair it. You state you aren't in a rush to fix it... Maybe YOU are that person. You can set it aside. Take a class. Learn more. Read up.. Watch some videos. Buy the right tools. Maybe you'll find the person that can help. Could go either way. On the other hand using one Horse so others can be revived and live on is perfectly respectable. It's your herd. Your tractor. Your decision. Removing the nut with a impact should not be a problem. Putting the nut back on, is where caution needs to be taken. Ideally a torque wrench should be used, but I'm guessing he doesn't have one of those either, and the problem with holding the flywheel arises again. The bottom line is, the nut and flywheel have to be removed, and re-installed. Sometimes a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do, but if you don't have a puller, and can't beg. borrow, steal, or buy one, removing the nut becomes a mute point. Your local Auto Zone store may have an adequate puller and torque wrench in their loaner tool program.I caution though against using a jaw type puller. Pulling on the ring gear is a really bad idea I think. Breaking off cooling fins is equally bad. An impact is how I remove an install flywheels. Ed Stoller 19 #35 Posted September 30, 2021 Background on trigger pins. The Tecumseh OEM ignition was really a Capacitance Discharge Ignition, CDI , not a magneto. With a CDI, a capacitor is charged up to several hundred volts and when this voltage is connected across the primary of a transformer, Pulse Transformer PT, a very high voltage is produced across the secondary to make the spark across the plug. The timing for the connection of the capacitor to the PT is controlled by an electronic switch, silicon controled rectifier SCR. The SCR is normally open, but it has a gate witch when it receives a small voltage, slams the SCR into conduction in a millionth of a second. This trigger voltage pulse for the gate is generated by a trigger coil with a built in magnet. Normally there is no trigger voltage as the magnetic field is constant, not changing, but when the trigger pin goes by the trigger coil , the magnetic field increases and there is a voltage generated, the trigger or timing pulse which results in a spark. More on the replacement ignition later, but you do not need to remove the flywheel to install it and it only costs $60. I would be glad to help you. Take a screwdriver, a nice long one, put a rubber plug on the end... such as one of these: And put the screwdriver down into the spark plug hole, rotating the engine over until the screwdriver stops piston movement.
