Thinking about inquiring about the tractor in the background in these pics. I thought i had it figured out but a couple details got me stumped. Any thoughts? I am told it ran two years ago.

They are neat old tractors. Built by  the same company that made the Economy Power King tractors. L & G magazine did a series about them recently.

It probable had a Briggs engine. Transmission is a T92 Crosly used in a lot of things. Very stout differential and bull gears.

Thks. You nailed it! Sure learned alot looking for a match and some history of different tractors. Including Speedex and that whole story.

it amazes me, even if running or fully restored, how little these (coolest rides around) go for no matter the brand.

Depends VERY much on where you live. For some reason old garden tractors up here in Maine have become platinum coated and gold infused.

In all seriousness if I was actually looking for a running driving good quality usable tractor I would likely be better off to drive to Pennsylvania to purchase even including the fuel and time for the trip.

Well, I  thought you nailed it but it is not a Jim Dandy. Wanna give it another guess?

Is it in the Power King family? Made by Economy?

A Red E perhaps?

That hood notched around the gas tank says Jim Dandy, Economy, Power King. Could be a Red-E. but I don’t think so. They were all made in the same plant at the same time. The more options that came standardit changed the name.

Country Squire, per the current owner. And the pics match as well from what I can find.

Sure looks like a Jim dandy. Perhaps that’s the model?

All in the same family slim.

I'd forgotten about the Country Squire.

I actually have one that I'm sort of "tractor sitting" for @Stepney

Difference is mine does not have a hood on it.

That’s a new one. Power king and Jim dandy I know but have never heard of a country squire unless it was a station wagon.

Same with me until a couple days before it showed up at my house. Same basic machine. Like mentioned above the options are a little different I guess.

As I said it does not have a hood on it right now but it appears that it did at one point.

Spenser mentioned that it was considered optional equipment back then.
